CCP:
Is it possible you might release stats of number of new accounts or pilots since free to play became an option? I've played EVE for many years myself, but due to money constraints I too am on the alpha clone.... which allows me to focus on the smaller ships that I skipped past. I think it is a great help to new pilots to not feel rushed to learn all they can within 14 days... which I am sure is allowing more curious players to play without any immediate commitment.
Is it too soon to have any information on this? I see myself upgrading to the paid account within the next 6 months, but I am very grateful to have this opportunity to still play with destroyers, frigs and cruisers in the meantime.
Thanks! |

Did you know that it is easier to sound like an ignoramus than learning how to read activity charts?

If new players cant learn to survive in 14 days then Eve is no place for them

I don't think alpha is a failure. It gave me the chance to play again when I've got no money given that I'm out of work, broke and struggling. Did manage to scrape up 20 bucks and a paypal account to get 1 month of omega for now, but if I still can't find any work by then, at least I'll still be able to play. Thank you CCP :) |

Thank you CCP :) I've been there, wish it had been an option when I was out of work, luckily I had some plex stashed and some shiny stuff in my hangar to keep my sub going.
Good luck with finding work, keep plugging away at it and something will come up.
In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Did you know that it is easier to sound like an ignoramus than to learn how to read activity charts? http://imgur.com/a/hyGkI While you are right in saying he sucks at reading charts, not counting the single jump up, the rate of decay hasn't changed at all. I would be interested in more info from CCP on those numbers, separate alpha vs omega. I'd look at what the graph looks like for omegas. I wonder if it's still decaying or if it's turned around. I expect most of the decay has been alphas, but it would have to be a pretty dramatic amount to be able to offset any conversion. I'd be interested in some age charts as well... what are the omegas doing? How many are going alpha, and how many of them are still logging in? Has the rate decay of active pre-clone state omegas continued, slowed, or reversed?? There's gotta be so much interesting data there that's not being shown.

Those raw numbers (graphs presented in posts above) will tell you very little because you don-¦t know how many of these new accounts/characters are owned by current players. In other words you won-¦t be able to differentiate current and new players and thus you will not know how the change contributed to raising of player base.
It might be also better to wait a while till the initial "fuss" will pass and numbers are "normalized". No analyst here though. |

You can give the same graphic to ten different people and you will get eleven different opinions.
The fact is that more people are logging in on Tranquility now than they were before Ascension. |
