Not everyone reads the crime forums so thusly I decided to post it here as well.
We interrupt your normal scheduled programming of space ****s for the following special announcement...
Call this fair warning to those who encounter my brethren and myself. If you wish to survive an encounter with us heed my advice. Granted I do realize some of you may indeed be able to win in battle, however for those who do not wish to roll that dice the following will leave you intact.
First and foremost if you do encounter us, for the love of all that is holy stop your ship. If you try to run for the gate or whatever, we have no choice but to destroy your ship and or your pod.
Secondly donÆt log off, mouthing off in local in a rude manner, and or refusing to pay our tolls. Due to the fact that it can be so darn hard to replace ships in this game we realize this and have opted to give people the opportunity to save them a lot of hard work. Maybe were just getting too soft, but itÆs a courtesy that will only last if people show appreciation of that courtesy.
Lastly donÆt stall; we know when someone is trying to kill time until forces can arrive. If someone shows up in local and your being held hostage youÆll be destroyed immediately. Therefore it is in your best interests to pay us promptly upon being stopped.
If you can follow the simple advice above you live if not you die. It really is all up to you, ask anyone we have encountered we are true to our word. If you attempt to take advantage of any of our courtesies your name is put on a running list we have of people who are KOS. To date I do believe there is only one name on that list which has not been KOS, due to their lack of cooperation. Sorry for the interuption and thank you for your time.
...And now back to your programming _______________________________________________________ Get custom sigs and graphics done here Unforgivn Website

Zarthan is true to his word. In my experience at least. If you do get caught by Unforgiven then you can expect to pay your way out of captivity and live to tell the tale.
Respect is due them by trying to play the challenging path of being highwaymen rather than wreckers.

Well to be honest, its pretty important for a pirate to be on top of the public relations situation. Its the kiss of death to an outfit like Zarthan's if they get lumped in with the TankCEO-alike jabba gankers because then people will tend to never pay and the advice like the guy above gives to blow up your ship to prevent any profit for the villains becomes absolutely sensible.
I know that Zarthan makes an attempt to pirate in a way I consider "properly done" ... hence it would be unreasonable for me not to add my endorsement to his word, if not his business sector.
From my perpective I'd say, run if you think you can get away. Fight if you think you can win. Surrender to these guys if they have you cold. They will keep their word.

Wrong skillz old boy, I am still resolutely a free-space gal. I don't think we should be charging tolls for access to 0.0. Of course I agree that some nere-do-wells need to be on KOS without question, but general spacefarers improve the economy of 0.0 and should be encouraged.
Sadly, my vision for open borders no-tariff exploration of 0.0 was pretty much trashed by Biomass and the Foresaken empire and three months of interminable ridiculous pointless skirmishing to no good effect save the maintenance of feud and bitter hatred.
Still,
These things happen.

You can only ransom those who allow themselves to be ransomed. Even I would get caught with tons of stash on me, I rather blow myself up and leave nothing to petty thieves. To give in is to surrender, not in the past, not now, not ever ;-) ------------- Tank CEOno unread

Edited by: Viceroy on 29/12/2003 06:55:33 So hard to make people pay, so many non-intelligent life forms in space "NO I WONT PAY YOU PIRATE SCUM! I DONT CARE IF I'M GOING TO LOSE 10x WHAT I COULD HAVE PAID YOU, I HAVE DECIDED TO NOMINATE MYSELF FOR THE DARWIN AWARD SO I WONT PAY"
A shame really. Wasnt like this in the old days. Well anyway, view this site ingame for instructions on how to manage in a SI holdup. Its quite simple really:
- No funny business, dont try to;
a) Log off (Rarely works, especially if you're held up by a group. You'll be dead long before your ship dissapears)
b) Run away (MWDs, afterburners, and any motion what so ever. Stop your ship completely, that means 0 m/s, not 1 m/s, 0. If you try to inch your way to freedom you'll die.)
c) Call in help (The moment we see an associate -That is corp member or alliance member- in local, you die. No negociations at all.)
d) Stall (Space Invaders get bored fast, especially when we sense that someone is trying to stall us. You die, we're happy)
e) Negociate Stupidly (I.E. Viceroy> Ok toll for your battleship is 20mil | Victim> How about i pay 1mil and you let me go | No we do not find this funny ;) You may be misinformed about pirate ransoms in general, but do not be stubborn about the price we offer you. Because we wont be letting your bship go for 1 mil no matter how charming you are. We are open to negociations on items and minerals/ore though -If the situation is appropreite-)
- Dont be rude (We are polite to all victims, you will be offered a reasonable toll in very good language and manners. But if you start trying to have verbal intercourse with our family members, we'll pod you for fun)
- Pay the toll (The tolls we offer are very reasonable, and when you pay you will be let go. If you die by accident after paying your money will be reimbursed -as it has been several times in the past-. And no, accident does not include logging off when we scan your ship.)
Very simple, use common sense and you'll be safe -

Lets see.. pirates that try ransom you for more than what the insurance on your ship cost, and then in most cases they would blow you up after you pay. Im not saying everyone is like this though. However a thief is a thief in my eyes, and there is no honour to find among them either ;-)
I never run around in a ship that isnt insured or that I cant afford to replace. Should been a thumb rule for everyone, and rather die than let themselves be ransomed. Would give little to the wallets of petty thiefs.. ------------- Tank CEOno unread

Provided you have a second computer or a computer powerfull enough have a second EVE Client logged into your char selection screen.
If you get stopped, activaate a char from the second client and poof you main are gone from space.
Have a nice day
Edit: This works if under fire too, at least it did. Now you might like to play your main again but he is sitting near nasty pirats, no problemo. File a stuck petition and the GM's will move you, sound a little concincing, like, I was jumping to xx system but space never loaded yadada.
Easy as pie...
Edit Edit: Just forgot, now you log in cloaked, and untill you uncloak your main wont vanish from space. Remember as soon as you are logged in, if in space, move around or activate a module to make your main vanish. Teutonic Warrior |

Nope, just checked it, you just have to make sure you move around to decloak if you are in space, else you main is visible as long as you are decloaked.
Just worked for me in testing. It might be radom that if fails, but hell, its worth a shot. Teutonic Warrior |

Not really, it's just a player that decided to play one of his other chars, no harm in that.
Are you going to tell players when they can and can't play their alts? So I'm under fire and ge tan urge to mine scordite with my uber minre instead, no bigge. Pirats do it too, if they are under siege they'll just laugh hard and go play moneymaker alts. Same thing.
Edit:
Take Carebear CEO. He blows peeps to smithereens from 60 KM then log in with an alt to scoop the loot. That's no better, he is using an alt to avoid the justified wrath of the sentry guns. A player using this trick is just using an alt to avoid the unjustified wrath of ebil pirates. Same thing, you are avoiding something you don't like. Teutonic Warrior |

If it isn't suppose to work that way and you use it it could be classified as an exploit since you gain alot from it.
However it's upp to CCP to declair if it's an exploit or not.

I am fairly sure it is not supposed to work like that, but it does. But as long as Carebear CEO can log in an alt to avoid moving his ass 60 KM under sentry fire to pick up loot I say this is perfectly within reason. It's a matter of using another char to avoid someting you don't like.
Alts are the biggest problem of this game. Teutonic Warrior |

or...
If its anything less then 2 scorps, like say 1 teir 2 bs, a handful of dominix or 4 crusiers. Then say hello to my artillery, torps, and drones.
I really hate idiots that come onto the forums like this... you know before they have proven themselves and made a name for their corp... INGAME! I am going to bet that these guys have under 3m skill points and might be silly enough to try PvP in Dominix battleships. Nothing *****s me up more then a group of dominix gate camping.
