Gay is a blanket term used by straight society to cover a range of behaviours.
Queer is used in gay media to mean someone who wants their sexuality to be a social irritant that plays with expectations, it can be part of any other sexuality.
In the time of Juvenal, men were considered either passive or active, everything not a man was a potentially subdued victim. At that time there were so many eunuchs in the middle east they virtually constituted a third gender. It was only after the controversial topic of how babies were made was scientifically nailed down that the possibility of being queer came about.
So Gay generally means you prefer your own gender.
Queer means you prefer something other than social norms prescribe and you want to know what people think about that.
The current normalisation of a range of orientations works against queers, since where everything is ok, nothing can be outrageous.
TLDR the world is turning beige and grey.

No, there isn't. That's why when CCP removed all official non-supported language channels because of Russian players harassing Ukrainian players at the Ukrainian language chat and vice-versa, the player made replacements had to be listed in a sticky thread in this very forum.

There's more than a few of us playing EVE, and quite a few working here at CCP too

There's quite a few channels in game for sure, you just need to hunt them down a little!

I still can't figure why should someone ask for a ingame chat channel specific for sexual/love inclination in a place where the only thing is certain that we share is a) EVE Online and b) language.

I can see it as a grassroot move, strangers accidentally find themselves sharing an interest (like the loose LAGL community) and that gives birth to a chat channel, but I fail to see as the opposite, "I have a special interest, so where's my community?" Why should even be a community for everyone?

As an asexual, I LOATHE being lumped in with this so-called community.

Not sure if anyone is still looking for channels, but mine is GLBTQwhateverelse friendly. There aren't always people in it but we often do things together. More people are welcome to join.

Why is someone's sexuality a thing when playing spacegames?

Confirming that goons do indeed have SIGs for LGBTWTFBBQ (and frequently proclaim that they are indeed gay, whether they actually are or not). Can't comment on how active they are, though. I feel that an ingame community about real world interests that have nothing to do with the (meta)game may not have much staying power.

It isn't, but sometimes people like to know they have a place to chat, and people to play with, who wont being saying things that make them uncomfortable.
