I need to know if in a fleet setting my missiles will attack an NPC that is attacking a fellow fleet member.
If I'm multiboxing 2 characters and my missile ship isn't taking agro, will the missiles shoot pointlessly into space or will they recognize that a fleet mate is taking damage and target the NPC.
Also a long while back (years) I was told that FoF missiles would target friendly players, even in High Sec. Is this still the case with auto targeting missiles?
I would test this myself but I haven't actually subbed to the game in about a year, and haven't played in nearly 2 years.
To make my real intent known, I plan to multibox a few accounts (yes I know about ToS chang on multiboxing since I left) hence why FoF missiles paired with some round robin scripts would work great . |

Only if you've been aggro'd by the NPCs. Otherwise you need to initiate hostile action such as applying EW (target painters are best) or attacking with drones before your FoF missiles will activate. They will only target friendly ships if those ships fire on you, so stick with green settings and you'll always be fine. I've used a variety of FoF multiboxing setups, and RHMLs seem to perform the best. The Barghest is particularly well-suited in this role and a fleet of 2-3 works extremely well.

Don't forget that you can't multibox Alphas or Alphas/Omegas on the same machine, so you'll need to have both accounts PLEXed or paid for this to work.
Alpshs/ omegas?
Do you mean characters on the same account? I know that part, I used to multi box 10 accounts at once but haven't done much high end damage roles while multi boxing. Mostly I just mined with tanky skiff fits with one piece of e-war each and stuck 50 warriors on a target.
The goal is to have all my characters in a caldari marauder (idr the name, been too long since playing the game). Just wanting to try the easiest way to mutibox without breaking the multi box tos thing that changed since I left the game. |

The ideal number of ships to multibox L4 missions is 3. There are minimal gains from a 4th and 5th, and anything beyond 5 ships is actually counterproductive. This is per mission, mind you - so if you're running multiple missions at the same time you can obviously utilize more ships.
Personally I wouldn't aim for Marauders because they're an unnecessary expense, you can buffer tank L4s when multiboxing with 3 or more ships and there are a few ships that do this better. As an example, a trio of Barghests or Rattlesnakes are actually the optimal setup because you can utilize auto-targeting RHMLs and maximize performance between rigs and the 6 low slots. I prefer the Barghest with its higher DPS, missile range and velocity - but you can approximate this with a Rattlesnake for just over half the cost.
But hey, if ISK is no object and a massive fleet of black and red Golems lights your fire - by all means go for it.

auto-targeting missiles go for the nearest target, and vs standard npcs shooting 15 volleys from 15 ships will result in massive overkill and roughly half your volleys will fly off into space and hit nothing.
And not sure what you mean by "round Robin scripts and other things that aren't against the tos" but sounds questionable.

And not sure what you mean by "round Robin scripts and other things that aren't against the tos" but sounds questionable. That's why I indicated the optimal number of ships is 3. The Barghest is the ideal ship to utilize since you can get the missile velocity up to just shy of 30km/sec with a range of 152-154km. This ensures you lose the mimimum amount of volleys (almost none in-transit and very few to overkill). 3 Barghests have a sustained DPS just shy of 2700 with full skills and implants.

Using a round Robin script means I press a button combination (let's say alt z) and the first time I press it it causes client 1 to do an action, however the second time I press the same combination it does a different action on the same client or possibly the same action on a different client. Which ever way I use it, there is only 1 action done across all clients each time I do the combination.
That is all 100% within the tos rules regarding multiboxing so long as only 1 action per key press.
Also this won't be for missions so the advice on missions is fine, just doesn't apply to me at all |

Ah yea, that sounds okay. Saw someone mulitboxing incursions with rattlesnakes a while back, pretty sure they were using RHML with auto-targeting missiles and geckos.

As I said, the easiest method is to use a target painter to creat aggro because it has the longest range. You can also use a neut or vampire in a high slot if you're pressed for mid slots. If you can't spare any slots for EW, drones will certainly do the trick - sentries work best as they will have the shortest attack time.
I can't stress having adequate missile velocity enough. It's actually more important than damage when it comes to auto-targeting missiles because they're fairly low on the DPS scale already and you can easily lose 50% or more of your DPS to lost volleys in transit. If the end goal is Golems you will want to run 1-2 T2 hydraulic rigs as this will give you a +40% velocity bonus plus Bastion.

doesn't a round robin scrip count as a macro? or is it okay via the TOS if it still only does one button for one button?

lol allison seemed confident so figured he might know. I know sending in a ticket asking you can't make one key do multiple things at once.
wanted to know if i could set it up that pressing one key would OH three different mods at once and was given a flat no but they didn't elaborate much further

For the sake of simplicity lets use the button the round robin script is bound to is "Q".
I make a script that will press the number "1" the first time I press "Q"
I then make a command in the script to input the number "2" when I press "Q" the second time
I then make a command in the script to input the number "3" when I press "Q" the third time
This can go on and on until I've made it input the buttons I want and there is no actual limit on long this go. For the example however lets end at "3"
After I've pressed "Q" for the third time I got a "3" input. After that however the fourth time I press "Q" it will go back to the start (hence round robin term) and input the number "1" again. It will input 2 the fifth time, 3 the sixth, 1 the seventh, 2 the eighth, etc etc...
If you pay attention you see I am pushing 1 button and getting 1 action, even if the button is the same button being pushed over and over, i am getting 1 action per key press which is falls perfectly in line with the ToS... Pair that multiboxing and you could RAPIDLY give commands to large amounts of clients while never once breaking the ToS regarding both multiboxing rules and script rules.
If you want to learn about scripts I suggest picking up AutoHotKey and looking around for some basic guides, AHK is very fun to use but beware, some scripts you can create with it are against the EULA and will get you banned if you use them (such as making an auto mining script). Always ask if your uncertain if something is against the EULA |

I completely failed to reply to your delima... You could VERY easily make a round robin script that overheats any set of modules.
I don't remember the default keybinds but lets say you want to overheat F1 + F2 + F3..
Lets say the overheat moddifer is "Q"
So have the script input Q + F1 the first time the button is pressed
Have the script input Q + F2 the second times its pressed
Have the script inpute Q + F3 the third time it is pressed
You could have the script bound to the button "T" and just rapidly press the letter "T" 3 times in less than half a second and have all 3 modules overheated basically at the same time... Doesn't break the ToS and you get the same result you were looking for, a quick and painless way to OH multiple modules at once... |
