maelstrom alliance: for standing against all odds to protect there only outpost
at the beginning maelstrom vs TCF/GOON/SMASH/RA = 60 vs 300+
TCF asked if maelstrom wanted to give up and get a safe passage, most corps in ]v[ said hell no
my choice got nothing to do with the alliance i am in now

F-E (Forsaken Empire) , you think a corp like that would implode from all the smack piled up inside, yet they still find the power to smack even today.

As we always said when flamed WCS's didn't have much to do with what we did. Removing them would not affect our effectiveness, except for the odd jump through a gate camp trick here and there.
There have been many other nerfs that most don't even remember now that have had way more of an impact on our strategy than WCS.

I never thought Privateers would last through their first month because of how soul crushingly boring empire wars are.
I also thought AAA wouldn't last long, since my experience of RAT was small frig gangs & the odd 2-stab arma and Xenobytes sitting in 4gq in their ruptures

gave up impass would be a better phrase. fighting an opponent that figures out how to get pos's up without triggering a ded report is no fun at all, and a game is supposed to be fun. when the fun stops, alliances fall apart. I am glad we have the leaders we do, because they recognized the fact that everyone was tired of fighting pos warfare/logoffskis.
as for the topic.....there really aren't any corps/alliances that I am surprised to still see playing together. Its a game, and why disband if you like the people you play the game with. it is a game you know. its supposed to be fun.
now I am just wondering if I need to get into my flameproof suit or not

I won't talk about what i refer to as the "defensive alliances" but instead focus on the proactive guys that are out there fighting everyday and the up-n-comers.
IRON - out of all the Northern alliances these guys are now the oldest that hold territory and have been through hell and back. Even though they barely post on the forum, they actually have a huge history behind them and have always featured in some of EVE's most prominent wars for over 2 years without coming up for air. There isn't an alliance up here that doesn't look up to them in one way or another. In my experience they stand out for sheer professionalism, pvp ability and being one of the few 'good guys' left in the game.
FLA - many people put them down as dead the moment they claimed a station, but they're still here. The NFC/Sparta war solidified them, the BE engagements woke them up and the Bob war will prove to make or break them. We all watch on.
TRI - Good friends of IRON and proving to be an up and coming power. They've progressed from being a chokepoint camping nuisence, to an alliance that shows tremendous promise. Part of me wishes those two would just get together and form a fking powerhouse in the North but what do i know, maybe they will, they compliment each other so much.

Top two for me would have to be RA and KOS, although I think you've gotta give KOS more credit for their staying power (even though they suck =-) given they got where they are without excessive exploiting of game mechanics.

Gave up impass yeah right . More like us thwarting every attempt by you to take down our posses. You were pretty much outgunned and outclassed from the get go. Posting lies about it later is not going to change that.
I agree with you that pos warfare sucks, you have to be some kind of masochist to actually like pos warfare.

I'll second that. A year ago, I was trying to learn in depth about how they were led, as a prospective destination for corp + allies. "We don't have a leader, we have a senate, and every corp gets an equal vote in leadership issues," coupled with the 50 or so 5 person, inactive, semi-active, or noobish corps...
I didn't expect them to last a week. Much less after they gave up as part of the Eastern anti-RA Coalition (which, in the end, turned out to be a keystone of the arch).

Triumvirate - I must set my hatred for them aside for 1 second to congratulate them for thier uncharacterised determination. Its amazing thier character base has finally decided to stay in 1 place.
Iron - I Had no doubt from the start when we set it up that it would last a long time, however it has needed dragging along kicking and screaming some of the time. Its a very proud (rightly so) entity now though :). ------------------

This is gonna sound REALLY odd, but....
I never figured Band of Brothers would survive long. Weren't they supposed to be the "anti-alliance," made up of misfit corps who EVERYONE knew were incapable of civilized behavior? Maybe a month before they got bored and went their separate ways again.
Apparently what seemed to be institutionalized antisocial behavior was only antisocial to the societies of outsiders.

How about my corp? I started it in last summer just for my amusement (and to troll on forums which I cannot do anymore ) because finnish scene shut me outside from their corporations .. and now we have 50 members and part of respected 0.0 alliance and our way to world domination.
Oh and we play OpenTTD .. how cool is that?
