a few minutes ago in the Help channel, Corwin said that a whole bunch of people have received Tech2 BPs and were sitting on them making copies and researching ME..
Is this True?
----------------------------------------- [2003.12.17 06:35:20] Corwin > Orvolle is .4? Doesn't that mean that it's less than .5 ? and isn't .5 what starts the danger level? [2003.12.30 07:15:50] Corwin > Tech 2, IE expanded cargo holds I, MIning lasers 2, etc.... TL2 is being released all around you [2003.12.30 07:21:20] Corwin > tech 2 is released to players. Some players are busy researching the BPs before building stuff. Others are sitting on the BPs making copies to make money off of them that way |

Edited by: Xhalen Toth on 30/12/2003 08:50:09 I could have sworn Corwin was the guy who defeated the Beast and destroyed all of the Slayers in the process. Didn't he also have some nifty little blade thing called 'Glaive'.

Lets take the Deep Core Mining laser as an example.
The copy time on that is 3 times longer then one Mineral research cycle. The build time is quite huge, comparible to a frigate, but still you would produce more in the time it would take to copy them.
I don't honestly see the point in copying them at present, unless they recon they can sell more of those, or are unable to build the items.
Hard call...

I believe this all started because I received the 10-free days email which invited me to return to Eve to see Tech 2 additions.
After checking the market and the Trade channel, and seeing nothing related to Tech2, I entered the Help channel to see if I was missing something obvious.
I asked where the Tech2 modules and ship were and was fed the following line of BS:
[ 2003.12.30 07:15:50 ] Corwin > 1of20: Tech 2, IE expanded cargo holds I, MIning lasers 2, etc.... TL2 is being released all around you
When challenging that answer, noting that expanded cargo holds I are Tech 1 and Mining Laser 2s have been in the game for months, I was told that the BP for expander I's was given out as part of the Tech2 release.
How this makes a readily available Tech1 item have anything to do with Tech2 modules and ships being available, I'll never understand; which is the thought I relayed to Corwin, who then replied with:
[ 2003.12.30 07:21:20 ] Corwin > 1 of 20: tech 2 is released to players. Some players are busy researching the BPs before building stuff. Others are sitting on the BPs making copies to make money off of them that way
Reading these forums clearly shows this is not the case, and I can only assume that CCP has decided to lie to it's pool of cancelled subscribers and instructed the Polaris volunteers to support the lie when confronted by angry and confused people looking for the Tech2 items they were invited to waste time logging in to not see.
All of which makes absolutely no sense.

Cargo Expander I are tech 2, not tech 1
Basic Cargo Expanders are tech 1 _______________________________________________

Actually, Cargo Expander 1s are tech 1, level 2. Big difference. If they were Tech 2 they would have a little "II" in an orange triangle in the corner of their icon, like the Miner 2s do.
Meanwhile, I can only assume Corwin was speaking out of his backside.

the only 'legal' tech 2 item in play right now is the Miner II but DCM lazors are technically a tech 2 item.
They require trade goods to build, skills and trade items for research and require additional skills to build it. The elusive answer by the devs was 'Deep core mining lazors are tech 1.5'
Cargo expander I is tech 1 item BUT the blueprint was given out in the same fassion that tech 2 BPs will be handed out, sort of a test before the system goes live.
CCP isnt lieing when they said tech 2 items were out, but it isnt tech 2 modules/ships that are out; the tools, trade goods and skills are out. The reason they put up the free 10 day return is so that, if you want to compete for the tech 2 items you still have time to work for it.
Had they waited until the lottery was released and already out before sending the 'come look at tech 2' then people doing the free trial would have been just that much futher behind the competition.
So its not false advertising, tech 2 is in and what this corwin was yacking about, im not sure (no 'official' tech 2 blueprints are in game yet other then miner 2), hope that helps

Edited by: Riana Tabost on 02/01/2004 01:48:06 Basic Expanded Cargohold is tech 1, as it says on the attributes tab of the information screen.
Expanded Cargohold 1 is also tech 1, again, as it says in the attributes tab.
Whether you would say tech 2 is ôin the gameö yet or not is subjective.
Tech 2 is in the game in terms of: Market -> Construction Components Market -> Tools Agents -> Research Blueprints -> Miner 2 Items -> Miner 2
Tech 2 is not in the game in terms of: New Items and/or Blueprints available since Castor.
When the first/next raffle for a new tech 2 blueprint happens it seems everything will be ready for immediate manufacture. That is to say, data exists server side and client side regarding tech level 2 items. __________________________________________________________________________ May I recommend a Cybernetic Subprocessor?.. Be careful making the distinction between a tech level 2 item and an item introduced because of the tech level 2 game expansion (ie: castor). Deep Core Mining Laser 1 is a tech level 1 item that was introduced with Castor. __________________________________________________________________________ May I recommend a Cybernetic Subprocessor?.. If I had gotten a T2 BP for anything marginally worthwhile, I would be pumping them out as fast as I could sell them. Who cares about efficiency at this point? Pass it all on to the buyer. The Eve economy is heavily monopoly-driven--you need to make your profit before it commoditizes.
