I'm at a far-flung location for some peaceful mining on occasion, and sometimes, I just want to shoot something. I have an Assault Frigate but no efficient way to salvage wrecks. A Mackinaw with tractor beams and Salvage Drones is just wrong.
So, how about a mini-Noctis for salvaging? A ship that would be somewhat portable (7,500 m3 packaged), with four high slots for a couple of tractor beams and salvagers. A modest ship bonus for tractor beam range and speed, and a drone bay of 15m3, enough for 3 Salvage Drones.
Might be a boon to Alpha Cloners and newer players, not to mention itinerant miners with an occasional itchy trigger finger.
Right now I've dusted off a Moa in my ship hangar and outfitted it as a salvager. To disguise it I've fitted a Gurista skin from the special event in October, so it looks like a Gila.
Heck, even a module increasing tractor beam range would be a boon, as new ships are a long process in the making. |

Step 1: drop an MTU at salvage location. Step 2: come in a destroyer with a full rack of salvagers Step 3: ???? Step 4: PROFIT! |

Destroyer, mobile depot for refitting. As much as I don't want to ruin the surprise, when you show up on an enemy Overview it's still going to say Moa (just a better looking Moa).
I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

People hardly use the Noctis since MTUs came out.
Worst case a MWD destroyer with several salvagers and tractors works. Used to use one before MTUS came out. |

MTU of course! Didn't consider carrying one on a frigate, as I've only used an MTU with a Level IV Battleship mission runner.
Thanks for the input, gents. |

When you fly a destroyer for salvaging - which is a good thing, we do it all the time - use a 5x tractor and 3x salvager setup and 3x small salvage tackle rigs. When you have trained it some day, it will be very hard to keep feeding your salvagers.

As people said, destroyer is good for salvaging in all sorts of spaces due to its number of high slots, etc.
My recommendation though is to do a little more training and use an Interdictor. There is some difference when people see a T1 destroyer on d-scan vs they see a Sabre on d-scan. This will work better than any visual fooling with SKINS ;)
Cheers Love! The cavalry's here!

Oh sweet summer child, I only wish skins worked that way. Sadly, a Moa with a Guristas skin still reads as 'Moa' on D-Scan or the overview.
as to the task at hand: MTU + salvage destroyer. Catalyst can lock seven targets, so seven salvagers and a utility cloak/probe launcher/????

For K space maybe 8 salvagers and a Sig Amp for 9 locks. For WH space, cloak + Probes and 6 launchers.

That's why I left w-space, nobody is ever there and your lonesome is forced with the loneliness all by herself once again.
