Just looking at some prices and there is hardly any reason to use tech 1 anymore. Especially in the case of things with low skill requirements. I.e. Cap rechargers, cap relays, almost all small and medium modules etc..
Tech 2 is certainly cheeper than best named, and works much, much better. Especially given the way addative componants work for things like shield and cap recharge etc. You get a much bigger boost than that 5% bonus would seem to indicate.

I sold loads of t2 stock a little while back expecting a price hit after the patch, buying lots of it back now, some as low as 25% of what I sold for just weeks ago.
Glad I sold the 7 cov ops cloaks I had when they were still 78 million.
Gotta love invention.

No, T2 got cheaper. It's still not cheap, it's just not as totally baffy insane as it was.
It still costs you more than the price of a T1 ship, to T2 fit that ship. And gives the guy that pops you a useful bit of loot.
IMO T2 should come in at about 10x T1. And thankfully, it's looking like it's starting to get there. (Yes, that's 10x the price for something like 20% extra bonus)

So you should use it more often. Before it was crazy to build a ship for normal ratting and kit it out to be completely t2, you were better off just making a t1 fit and then use best named and upgrade your ship as you could.
Now with the much, much lower prices. (500% decrease in cost for the popular stuff) There is no reason not to kit out ships with t2 fittings, unless your going suicide raiding or something.

'bout time too.
Fit a t2 frigate with t2 stuff and you got 15mil in equipment, 7 in the ship
Now get a whopping 3.5mil from insurance when you go pop and...well...
Not everyone has 32 gazillion billion isk

I believe that this is exactly how it was originally intended. Best named provides similar stats to t2 but costs more ISK. With an investment of SP (which I consider to be much more valuable than ISK because its generation is limited by time not effort) you get access to the same quality of equipment for less ISK.

T2 are very good moduals. BUT T2 require more cpu and pwr generally which means you cannot use all T2 fitting thus have to replace them with the more ex*****ive T1's not because they are better modual but because the fitting requirements are better.
a good example is the blasterthon with its lack of cpu general pvp setup needs a mix of t2 and t1 and also requires a cpu implant.
so its not as black and white as you seem to think.

i love this pointless T1 production make some decent money on BS production. Not much maybe 10 - 15% depending on mineral/bpc costs. But if you sell it in some numbers its an easy income to support pvp. And what should i do with billions over billions if I had a vagabond or exhumer BPO just would get bored with so much isk.
and yes all my ships are T2 fitted by now. Its wounderfull.

Well with the coming t3 stuff, this was bound to happen anyway.
It's just how every market/mmo evolves.
t1 comes out, costs x amount. t2 comes out, t1 costs less. time goes by or t3 comes out, t2 costs less, t1 stayes about the same.
It won't ruin the market for t1 as people still need 'em.

Supply has overrun demand. To the extent that prices have fallen in a huge way. Thus making them affordable to everyone.
Ships are a different matter. The overly expensive mechanical engeneering data cores are artificially holding up the price of the less expensive ships. You can't even invent recons for example (at least amarr) because you would just loose money.
