Just in case of a catastrophic failure EG: fire, fire, jita lagg, ect. Also, while I realize the whole "voice" thingy is getting very popular rapidly, might I suggest adding more capacity to the "system" BEFORE letting that monster loose on a regular basis? Call me an optimist but more hardware might help solve that whole "lag" issue, y'know? Love the game, love the community...getting nerfed by lag -- not so much. later, darlings. MK.

I'm guessing that the Access 97 database used for Eve can also be copied while in use just be copying the .mdb.... Let them spend that week working in their own environment, deploying and testing fixes without needing such a stringent deadline. I have worked in similar situations to the ones CCP must adhere too, and must admit that having such a small period of time to deploy and test quickfixes, restart servers, and do the tons of other small things, is a feat almost every time. So yeh, that's my vote. Will be painful having no eve for a week, but will give CCP some time to really work on getting these kinds of problems solved without needing to rush things to meet such a deadline. The only downfall to that, is the fact that systems most commonly break under heavy load, or when players are performing less common tasks (copying bm's, creating can lag, mass login-logoffs, etc) so it will never be able to give the optimal testing conditions. That's my vote! Sick of the waits with empire research slots? Use mine!
