Hi all;
I was wondering if anybody else shared my thoughts. I've seen a lot of neutral and high quality battle reports on this war, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have one sticky topic on whats going on (ie major battles outpost losses etc).
this would reduce the number of useless threads like "hi wats going on in the var". It would help clean up the forum a lot.
obviously there are a lot of problems with this idea (ie what is a major battle? or how do we make sure it stays neutral? etc), but I still think a sticky topic is needed here.
what do you think?

I think the thread will be flamed into oblivion with the usual epeen contests, and will do nothing to stop threads created by people that think their view is far too important to be stuck in another person's thread.

I made an overview during the first two months of the war.
The idea was to post crisp headlines giving a rough description of what happened, which have links to threads dealing with the developments mentioned. I think in general that idea works quite well, since by linking to actual threads in which all sides post, relative neutrality is likely.
Unfortunatly doing an overview like this is a lot of work since you have to go through almost everything posted on CAOD to find good threads worth including.
Anyways, if anyone wants to pick up on the idea, go right ahead.

The problem with wars like these is that there are huge egos involved, so it becomes difficult to believe what each side is reporting.
CCP did make an attempt to provide news coverage in the past, through the NPC corporation, The Scope. Unfortunately many people complained about it and it was cancelled.
The only way I can see real news coming out of a war is if a group of dedicated, neutral players, took on the role of creating a news site, and would be granted exclusive access by all parts of the conflict.
The problem with the suggestion above is two fold. Most dedicated players who have the sort of energy to pull this off are in an alliance already. The second is that they would invariably be accused of being alts for alliance XYZ. RAT was accused of being RA alts, ISS were accused of being BOB/MC alts and so on. Any neutral entity trying to do something useful for the community will be attacked sooner or later.

There is pretty much no war. Who is still actually actively fighting in a "war footing"? Almost no-one.
You look at bob's kb and its nearly all random ganks with the odd engagement with goons, there is very little evidence of any fleet battles.
Unfortunately ccp have pretty much killed off the fleet game with the introduction of supercapitals at least as far as bob were concerned which is a pity for them as they were very good at fleet combat - who is going to go into a fleet battle against an alliance with 4 titans at its disposal that can just DD pretty much any fleet it goes up against? Why do u think D2 refused to engage last night?
The game is back to roaming gank pvp corps with one alliance utterly dominating and everyone else just trying to avoid it for the most part.
When we do combat ops now its all about a nice heavy 10 or so man gang looking for other similar sized gangs for a decent fight. No-one really wans to play the major war game as (i) lag is too big a factor and (ii) its a case of he with the most (super)capitals wins everytime.

www.eve-tribune.com is a long-running News site that covers all of Eve. Of late however, little war news have reached our ears, and many contacts have dried up on interesting new information.
If you wanted a story written, contact one of our writers and offer what you have to say. It'd really help too, as keeping track of a thousand people and asking if they want a story is so hard. :P ~~~

Its sad really,4 super capitals in one alliance and more to come. battleship and below fleet warfare has been nerfed by ccp. 0.0 lost alot of appeal and so has the game its self. 0.0= capital ships and pos's alliance already better then 99% of eve alliances gets to have super capital blobs also good one ccp the game is going in the toilet. Why do i leave eve only to be drawn back? CCP we need a EA program.... |

Well according to the FIX front page, IRON has mysteriously lost all it's space!
We aren't sure who took our space, but I suspect Burn Eden stole our stations back when they stole our mothership and 4 carriers! _________________________________________________________

My EVE life is made of pvp alliance ops that are fun and a lot of spare time. I have all that I need currently. ISK, hostiles next door for cool gang and fleet combat, a lot of freedom to play, when I like and do, what I like.
In my eyes CCP can do what they want with conquerable space. If they want 5000 member coalition empires with all that annoyances that are involved, then I just stay where I am in NPC 0.0 and play my game with gang/fleetsizes between gang 10-70, which also involve capital combat / capital ship killing, but no sovereignty crap, pos spam, mega blobs and doomsday devices. If the blobs get too big, I just fly home for that evening and have some more pvp the next day.
Lame that I like to evade the blobs and frustrating side of EVE, I know.

AS so many post above this and in all the others theards prove, neutrality is impossible. UNLESS it is done by the GM'S. but even then someone would complain. still that is about the only way to really find out whats going on. something like system X controlled by A or B / System X 100/90 killed by Gangs of 300/400. that would be the only honest thing just raw numbers nothing else. But odds of this is very low.

I feel bad for you guys fighting this war. With all these titans and moms and thousands of people, it seems like if more than 20 minutes go by without a 500 person fleet fight where 20 capitals go down, people start to panic and make posts about <insert side here> is losing and/or the next <insert dead alliance here>.
