I'd like to point out that Mercurialis Inc. was founded on 2003-05-29.
We'd like to put the question out to the community asking for your help in verifying this information. If my calculations are correct, we are 1 day older than the corporation, Colossus Technologies, currently holding the title of the oldest corporation in Eve.

Thing is that corporation founding dates weren't actually tracked untill 2009 and the "employment history" tab on your character screen wasn't implemented untill Castor (iirc), so anything that was done before 2003.06.01 wasn't tracked or tracked in a way that makes it difficult to look up without having direct database access. This is the reason why founding dates sometimes don't line up. If you check my own employment history for example, you will see that i have never been in an NPC corp, which should be impossible. The reason for this is that my character was created before these kind of data were tracked. I can assure you, Colossus is older than Mercurialis. Think of it this way: Do you really believe that there was not a single corporation in the first 3 weeks of EVE's existence? Sorry to dissappoint ;p

I'm pretty sure your not older than some of the beta corps, though I am too lazy to look up if yall were also a beta corp or not. But I do know that some corps started in the beta just transferred over and the records weren't necessarily kept.
I'm pretty sure that's why Aralis had no corp history, because he joined Imperial dreams in the beta, pretty sure ID is one of the older corps if not the olders, though there are a couple of beta corps like that. |

when game went live it was fresh. BoB was Fountain alliance or somesuch sillyness in beta i do believe i read somewhere.
I'm pretty sure corps like Evolution and others were around in the first few days of eve going live

Imperial Dreams was founded on 2003.06.02.

Right, that took a while.
Aphoxema G posted something for me while i was trying to figure out why i couldn't.
Anyway, in addition to that post, to clarify:
Corporations and characters created before 2003.06.01 did not have all their attributes correctly tracked. Employment history was not recorded or displayed untill near the end of 2003 (which is why i don't have a starting corp on my list, nor does anyone else created before 2003.06.01). Corporation founding dates were not tracked at all untill the alliance system was introduced in 2007.
CCP pulled the dates for the first 10 corps in that dev blog linked earlier directly from the database, in a way that's simply unsafe to allow for the client (also mind that CCP uses MSSQL, not MySQL or whatever). All founding dates for corps created between 2003.05.06 and 2003.05.30 show up as either 2003.05.29 or 2003.05.30.
And i ask again, do people here really believe that in the first 3+ weeks of EVE, not a single corp was created? The first corps were created on 2003.05.06, in the order CCP posted in 2004. I'm sorry, but MINC is not the oldest official corp ;p |

There wasnt any Alliances back then, EVOL (Evolution formed 31/5/2003) were in the North early with Jade Constantine (Jericho Fraction - formed 1/6/2003) part of a Northern Coalition of sorts,
Once that finished amid its bitterness, EVOL formed Band of Brothers Alliance with the ticker CCP (cookies cake and pie i think) which for reasons obvious now they had to drop to BOB.
Infact Fountain Alliance left Fountain due to ingame pressurs made by Band of Brothers (remnants formed Morsus Mihi) and Band of Brothers moved in.
Looking at the other points raised, the term oldest active corps springs to mind, at the time CCP displayed their info etc it maybe a case of these old corps not being active at that time. |

Bit before my time but I think the story goes that EVOL and Xanadu went to Fountain (then one of the best regions in EVE) to turf out the locals, and ended up forming FA with some of the locals that fought back. After some months EVOL left, roamed about the galaxy a while and went north, the GNW happened and so on
Anyway look up the character Thesiuss on EVE gate. Although his join date to Oberon is too old to show in employment history he's been in it "for 8 years, 7 months, 29 days" which I think works out to May 6th 2003 on the nose (EVE launch date). And Oberon isn't even in the first 10 list from the devblog |

Many corps were founded on the first day. When you get 10-20 people together ninjamining you tend to get the 1.5m isk together quite quickly ^^ |

e: I got my Hand of A'dal a couple of years after that title was no longer awarded, due to the fact that I had the quest in my log just waiting to be turned in for however many months that character wasn't my main.

Yes there is - If you finished the quest within the first 10 hours of the first one to do so on a realm, you will also have gotten the Black Qiraji Battle Tank. Given how few people were able to finish the quests and the 10 hour window, i'd take having that mount as enough proof you did open the gates. If you don't have the mount, you didn't open the gates.
On a sidenote, the WoW topics are <- that way. |
