What's the max DPS an Alpha can do? A Caldari? Minmatar? Gallente? Amarr? And how do you achieve it?

Correct.
Bear in mind that ship type and fitting play huge roles in how much gank, tank, utility, speed, and debuffing you have.
Moreover, every ship fitting needs to be changed based on the circumstances at hand... which may result in higher or lower values for all of the aforementioned qualities.
tldr; don't focus strictly on DPS or any particular set of numbers. Ships are more than just the sum of their stats... they also need to be modded and used with purpose and tactical forethought.

You put biggest shortrange guns into biggest ship you can with biggest damage bonuses and use faction ammo, fill lowslots with damagemodules and use damage/rate of fire rigs. Now how useful the said ship will be i dont know.
And ye i guess Gnosis is the pick here since its by far the biggest ship with most guns Alpha can get.
Now the thing is, depending what you are hitting you might have major issues in hitting the target, and even if you hit, you just do weak hits, theres so much variables. |

I suggest not being concerned with "max dps" numbers. What matters is not paper dps but applied dps.
As an example, Minmatar are almost always operating in falloff, which is basically 50% dps, but that doesn't stop them from being very strong in pvp.
If your are doing pve, then generally, your fine fighting NPCs one ship class higher. Against other players, try to keep your ship sizes even or the targets one size smaller.
Applying dps requires training your dogfighting skills hopefully with willing corp mates who will critique you and provide pointers.
My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Interesting. |

A lolfit dps gnosis I figure can max out at about 588 DPS with alpha. A thorax not quite as lolfit at 430. A lolfit DPS navy exequror 596. And every single one of those numbers is garbage because there is no context.
Don't think about it too hard. Instead you can sort the factions by DPS vs range.
I believe (I may have amarr/minmatar switched) the ranking is roughly:
Short range/high DPS Gallente Minmatar Amarr Caldari long range/lower DPS
Keep in mind, if you are out of range, your DPS is 0, so raw DPS isn't everything.
Maxim 6. If violence wasnGÇÖt your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.

Pretty sure a vexor navy with 5 sentries and blasters is going to give some decent dps. I think alpha's can use 5 drones. |

To double the DPS of an alpha clone you team up with a second one. Somewhere here is an complaint from mercs about horde just loging into their high-sec alphas and killing their citadel with numbers instead of big ships. Most of the players even had omega clones, they just didn't bother to move them because alphas did the trick just fine. |

But that's kinda the point... sure, long range weapons can shoot at something close, just less effectively than a weapon designed for short range. Whenever a caldari fits blasters, they are half-assing bonuses that work far better for rails, so they aren't really getting the dps/range tradeoff they should be. Likewise, Gallente can fit rails, but the bonuses just don't put them in the same category as an eagle or a rohk, though it is still oftentimes the right way to go.

Basically anything over 50 drone bandwith is wasted on Alpha's. Feels like there's very little benefit of a VNI over a plain Vexor for an Alpha clone. |

Gnosis has a drone bonus (50% hp and damage).... so Amarr and Gallente have an advantage in damage when flying the gnosis due to having higher drone skills possible. Caldari and Minmatar alphas can't even fly medium drones. So then the question is if medium hybrids are better than medium energy turrets for damage. |

To add onto this your dps will also be zero if you are well within range but can not track your target. |
