Lets say, we have a target, with a locking range of 100km.
If i put on 1 remote sensor damp T2, it will be lowered to 52km. But theres a stacking penalty on these things. So how far down would it go with 2 and 3 damps on? This is RSD II...

Edited by: WredStorm on 30/04/2007 15:31:31 Yes, the dampeners are affected by the stacking nerf. Assuming each dampener, with skills, was capable of reducing your target's range by 52% then with 3 of them you'd have the following effect:
0 dampeners: targeting range = 100km 1 dampener: targeting range = 48km 2 dampeners: targeting range = approx 26.3km 3 dampeners: targeting range = approx 18.5km
Now, because of your skills, you'll probably be getting better than a 52% reduction with each sensor damp, but you are getting diminishing returns. I think with phased muons and maxed out skills and 3 dampeners you end up cutting the target down to about 7 or 8 % of their original targeting distance.

According to quickfit (which lies, I know):
90km with 1x 52% damp = 46800 90km with 2x 52% damp = 27276.09 90km with 3x 52% damp = 19805.71m 90km with 4x 52% damp = 17115.73m

I was just testing yesterday:
RSD II + signal suppresion 4(-58.* %) without any rigs used on 2x sb II megathron: 2x damps: 36km, 20s, 4damps: 24km lock range. Starting lock range for him must have been something around 220km.
Mods are stacked with next penalties: 1. 1 2. 0.87 3. 0.57 4. a little :D 5. useless
Catch is to put correct numbers for those penalties, educated guess is that it's calculated like : penalty x base effect (so 0.87 x 58.4 -> ~50%) and then his lock range is 0.42(1.damp) * 0.5(2. damp) x lock range. -------- I tanked D2 capital fleet and all I got was truncated Erebus mail.

as said in post above, it's stacking nerfed and subject to diminishing return, by a factor of 1.0, 0.85, 0.58 or something like that (from the top of my head, probably wrong but should give you the general idea) for 1 damp, 2 damps, 3 damps.
but please, don't use RSD IIs, use phased muons. same stats, but a lot more agreeable fitting reqs. unless they changed them since last time I checked

Edited by: VJ Maverick on 30/04/2007 15:38:19 First dampener is 100% effective. Second dampener is about 86% effective. Third dampener is about 57% effective. Don't bother with a 4th one.
Edit: Hehe, while I was typing this, it seems that 163524 other people have already answered your question. Nevermind then.

What about... if a target is being damped by two ships?
E.g:
2 x Ship with no mod to RSDs, e.g: Blackbird.
Each one has 3 RSDs.
Will a target with 100km lock range be damped down to about 15 km as if it were one ships using 6 stacking nerfed RSDs, do RSDs from different targets not stack?
I'd test this myself but I don't have enough alts. ---

AFAIK 6 RSDs on one target from say 2 different ships are stacking nerfed just as if they were all from the same ship.
but I don't know from experience, I just know from reading answers to this question in previous RSD threads

I'm not sure what the case is with RSD drones on the other hand. If they get stacking, then... well then they're hardly worth it.

The most noticeable difference between RSD II and phased muons are the useage of cap.
RSD II works well good, if cap is important get your hands on low frequeny suppressors if your wallet doesnt allow for more.

One of the amusing cases when I would choose isk over fitting reqs and fit t2 I think :)

They get it and nope, they are not worth it. All EW drones exept ECM drones get stacking penalities, which makes them rather ineffective and ECM drones rather strong.

Dampener Calculator makes it easy to visualize the stacking effect of various setups.
And yes, as with everything, the stacking is done on the ship that has the mod that is changing. If you are using some kind of EW that changes some stat of someone elses ship, it does't matter if you have 6 modules against them, or 6 people all have 1 module, or you have 3 damps and they have 3 warp core stabs, or you have 3 painters and they have 3 shield rigs, all of these will get stacked together.
