for the love of god 15 cruisers should NOT be guarding jaspet. The number of npcÆs and difficulty should directly reflect the ore in the area. Yes arknor should be guarded by bs npcÆs and/or 15 cruisers, but they shouldnÆt be on top of jaspet, and all the common ores u could find in empire. this is killing the game for small - med corps in 0.0, and driving the cost of ships sky high. For christs sake, we lost a Dom mining trit yesterday, and for many corps ship production has ground to a halt. please CCP ... don't kill the game

I'd agree with the 15 cruisers guarding only Jaspet bit.
It is a bit far fetched for an entire cruiser flotilla to be guarding a common mineral.

also, .1 is ridiculously easy. is there nothing in between? i really hope they'll fix this. my continuing playing depends on it.

Eh? Most places I've seen Jaspet there's been at the MOST a single cruiser and a few frigs guarding it.

In Stain (no Ark) we have 2-3 BS guarding kernite, while in Curse and Wicked Creek, the Ark is guarded by little cruisers...really well done CCP!
Please have some balance here.

As of 2003-1-5, 12-15 cruisers guard the belts in The Syndicate. Haven't seen Ark or Bis in The Syndicate yet. Some minor deposits of Heb and Hem around, and few places with DO.
In the "easy" systems, you're looking at encoutering fleets like this: 6-8 Chief Sentinels (low cruiser) 2-4 Chief Protectors(med cruiser) 2 Guardian Initiates (high cruiser)
In the harder systems, you can shift those NPCs up to Chief Protectors/Drug Barons, Guardian Initiates, and Guardian Troopers. Some pure-thorax fleets in there. They are nasty things to encounter.
What bothers me about this is the lack of gradual increase in difficulty. It seems to go from: 1) really easy (frigates, maybe 3 cruisers) with a big jump to: 2) really really hard (12-15 cruisers) and then to: 3) ha ha, BS's with cruiser fleet support
I wouldn't mind something in between 1 & 2 in places that make sense. (See comments by others above)
Also, security status is meaningless now it seems. 0.0 Empire space and 0.0 non empire space (eg The Syndicate) are *completely* different. So why use the same security status numbers?
Finally, be careful exploring belts in non-pods. We've had the 12-15 cruisers jump in 15km away from us while we were 80km from the belt. Normally you will encounter them within the belt...but if you stay for a little while in an empty belt, they have magic sensors and warp engines to jump on top of you sometimes.
This is almost always true if you are trying to pick up your, um, "stuff" after a previous encounter :) And they start locking you immediately after they appear. It's kinda cool in a wow, over-the-top sort of way :)
Anyway, having a hard time to find a place for a couple of players (not more than 3, and 2 is the usual number) to hunt and have fun.
Too easy and boring, or too hard and expensive. Any chance of getting a 3rd option?
