Ok I have read countless post where people seem to have no idea how to apply drone skills to the overall damage your drones will do. So letÆs settle this once and for all.
Here is the scenario: Ship: Myrmidon Drones: 5x Ogre II Skills: everything maxed BC: 5 Drone Interfacing: 5 Combat Drone Operation: 5 Gallente Drone Specialization: 5
Here are the three ways I have seen stacking calculations for drones, computed on the forums
Method 1. All Additive stacking Ogre II base multiplier: 1.92 CDO5: + (.05 + .05 + .05 + .05 + .05) DI5: + (.2 + .2 + .2 + .2 + .2) BC5: + ( .1 + .1 + .1 + .1 + .1) GDS5: + (.02 + .02 + .02 + .02 + .02)
Gives us a total multiplier of 3.77
DPS = (3.77 * 24)/2 = 45.24 DPS x (5 Ogre II) = 226.2 DPS
Method 2. Multiplicative between skills and Additive within skills.
So for the same setup as before the calculations would look like this:
1.92 * (1+ (.05 + .05 + .05 + .05 + .05)) * (1+ (.2 + .2 + .2 + .2 + .2)) * (1+( .1 + .1 + .1 + .1 + .1)) * (1+(.02 + .02 + .02 + .02 + .02))
Note: you need the ô1+ö so your damage doesnÆt get smaller.
Give us a total multiplier of 7.92
DPS = (7.92 * 24)/2 = 95.04 DPS x (5 Ogre II) = 475.2 DPS
Method 3. Multiplicative stacking. So with everything the same as the last two, the calculations would look like this:
1.92 * 1.05 * 1.05 * 1.05 * 1.05 * 1.05 * 1.2 + 1.2 + 1.2 + 1.2 + 1.2 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.02 * 1.02 * 1.02 * 1.02 * 1.02
Give us a total multiplier of 10.84
DPS = (10.84 * 24)/2 = 130.08 DPS x (5 Ogre II) = 650.4 DPS

Method 1: There is no way 5 Maxed out Ogre IIÆs are only going to do 226.2 DPS. Anyone that actually uses Ogre IIÆs would hopefully agree that method 1 is not the way damage stacking works.
Method 2: While 475.2 DPS seems more reasonable for maxed Ogre II drones, I am pretty sure this is still not how stacking works. For example drone interfacing reads "20% bonus to drone damage per level". i.e. if I increase my drone interfacing skill by 1 level, I should do 20% more damage with my drones. Period. In method 2, a one level increase to drone interface would increase the damage your drones do by some smaller amount than 20%, this makes no sense.
Method 3: This seems to be that way almost everything in eve works. Shield/capacitor recharge, shield/capacitor capacity, rate of fire, weapon damage, everything is stacked multiplicatively with every new skill you acquire. So why does everyone say:
ôlevel 5 BC (myrmidon) give you a 50% increase to your drone damageö wrongà should be a 61% increase
ôlevel 5 drone interfacing gives you a 100% increase to your drone damageö wrongà should be a 149% increase
And last but not least ômy Moros with level 5 Dread skill give me a 250% increaseö wrongà should be 659% increase!
I hope someone will confirm my calculations or show me the error of my way.

Sorry instead of Combat drone operation, the appropriate skill for Ogre II drones is Heavy Drone Operation, but that shouldn't change the calculations as they both give a 5% per level.

Well I now see that Method 2 is the way skills are stacked. For the longest time I was using Method 3 to calculate skill stacking.
For most weapon types the Method 2 and Method 3 give very similar numbers, however because there are upto 4 skills that affect drone damage and the increase they yield is quite large i.e. 10%(BC) and 20%(DI) , the two methods yield very different DPS numbers.
Thanks for clearing that up.

So I guess the next question is: I have heard a lot of Myrmidon pilots claim they do 900DPS. As we have established that drones can only do 475DPS that leaves 425DPS to be done my 6 turret weapons. It is difficult to believe that 6 medium turret weapons can do that much damage.
