How long would it take to do so and does sec gain increase when you get higher say at like -5.0? Also what would be the best way to increase your sec rating?

It is going to take you several days of hard core 0.0 ratting, or lowsec lvl 4 missions to get back to positive standings.
Imo getting back to positive sec status really takes way too long. I know its a punishment for pirating people, but its really out of proportion with the crime.

Not sure if I understand the maths completely, but since jumping system no longer let's you squeeze more boost out of 15 minutes, I think it might be true.
Quote: -9.9 to -4.89374705847861 requires 2624 increases of 0.15% value. This might take between 437 and 656 hours..
Quote: -9.9 to -1.89792905032054 requires 2932 increases of 0.15% value. This might take between 488 and 733 hours..
Rough estimate. - BOOST OUTLAWS (-10.0 and proud of it) |

It might be best to train fast talk.
And CCP might want to re-implement bribing CONCORD for sec status. It could be an effective money sink. ----- Griffin -- 100,000 ISK ECM - Multispectral Jammer Is -- 20,000 ISK Standard Missile Launcher Is -- 10,000 ISK War target sobbing over losing a fight in his T2 fitted Battleship -- priceless |

It took me a month in 0.0 to get from -10 to -1.8. This was spending a few hours a day in 0.0 killing rats, and pirating in 0.0 (Dont have to worry about the sec)
From what i understand now, is its best to jump from system to system killing the best NPC. You get an update every 15mins per system so i have read. Not tried it yet as im back to -10 and dont plan on changing it any time soon :)

Those times are completely out.
It can take as little as 7 days of NPCing in 0.0 to raise your sec status from flat -10 to -1.8, which is a safe number to ensure unhindered access to 1.0 sec space, if you have the time to do it.
Last November when our corp went merc, it took the vast majority of our members between 7-10 days of NPCing Angels in Curse, no abuse of timers jumping to systems, or anything dodgy, just sat in a belt shooting Angel Cartel Machariels.
I personally did it in 7 days, Friday to Friday along with a few other members. Granted I may have been a bit drunk while doing it (helps pass the time).
Hell, we even had one of our guys, Laocoon, do it in an Ibis, leeching sec bonuses off us with his Civilian Gattling Railgun.
I think the total Ibis death count, not including the ones Veto Members blew up was in excess of 50, check his Bio, he has a little scorechart for the number of Ibises he lost in his "OMGpurification"

Commiting a Homicide should be unforgivable unless in war, so sec status should be permanent neg for doing it, to show what your character has done in rl you cant just erase your crimes an mmo should be the same....

But there is no other point to playing a multiplayer game than to kill the other players. The sec status penalty is a bit high.

i went from -9.98 to -1.8 in 3 weeks it only took so long because the area i was ratting did not have good BS's to kill so was getting between 0.15% to 0.22% increases. when i found a tripple BS i would kill one then wait till i got a sec increase then kill another that way they would respawn before i finished killing the full spawn so you could get sec increases all day without having to warp anywhere or go looking for another spawn.
there is a faster way which i have used before but that way requires you to have loop of systems what you do is kill 1 bs then jump to the next system kill 1 bs then jump to the next as you get 1 sec increase every 12 min's per system i have seen people go from -10 to -1.9 in 2 or 3 days doing it that way. dont trust badgers |

About a month, if you're the casual player or get bored after an hour of ratting so bad that you want to pull your eyeballs from their sockets with a claw hammer.

I was ratting with the Veto guys in Curse aswell, so I know it can be done quickly, but after the last patch my sec gains while fixing my other char were very slow, and sometimes non-existant.
Try again now and get back to me. - BOOST OUTLAWS (-10.0 and proud of it) |

Don't do the crime if you cant do the time...
I think sec status changes should be publically visile like employment records. That way you could see that the guy that seems really nice was -10.0 last month.
If you've been a rotten egg in game once the stench should stick on you forever.
Unless you want to recycle the character and start over

Having people see your previous sec status (like a graph, from birth to present) would be fine by me, right now mine would be waaay down there! ;)
However, I've recently moved to 0.0 so I'll be shaving off my negative standing bit by bit whenever I can, boooooring :(

What does a -10 have to do with being a mean/nice person? 99.999% of all the pirates I know are decent people. Now it may be hard to see that if they're killing you regularly (which I'm guessing Fey has lost a few while shooting lasers at rocks whilst alone in a low-sec belt), but hey, if you come out into low-sec and get popped its your own fault for comming. You know darn well thats where people pvp, therefore going there means its consensual.
Try and chat with the next person that pirates you, they may remain silent at first, but after the ransom/corpse has been recovered, you may just find a very interesting, polite, individual behind the -10 sec status.

This may come as a shock to the forum wh*ring community, but I have yet to try WoW. So ummm try again or something. I do play Sins of a Solar Empire, Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line (FS2 TC), X3, and on occasion Oblivion.
