How do u kill a freighter in secure sec ?, Yes, u use drones with a ship that can withstand a few seconds from concord, and while concord eats through your 15 man gank squad, all drones are on the freighter, and can kill it within the timeframe concord killes the gank squad.
There are really 2 problems: 1. drones, they continue to fight, even when concord shoots at attacking ship(s) 2. It only takes 15 man squad to kill a freighter. 3. Profit is too hight compared to how easy it is, so its unbalanced in the game.
1: I suggest that concord does 2 things: let concord frigates kill the drones, and the bc's and bs's kill the attacking ship. This way, the drones are effectively gone, and concord bs's can kill the attacking ship.
2: I suggest that freigters get some better armor/shield dependent on the freighter faction to eliminate the 15 man gank squad which more or less every corp in eve can establish. By doubling the resistance, you basically tripple the hitpoints, and you need a 60-80 man gank squad which will make the profit less.
3: In 0.0, it takes 1h to kill NPC's to make 20 mill profit with 1 BS/BC. By looting, you cant make it in 1h, but profit could be 40-50mill dependent of what u get as loot. I've seen a pattern the last year, that CCP tries to make whatever you do in EVE balanced, meaning that it takes 1h to make 20-50 mill profit in the best areas like 0.0 and mining bistot. Killing a freighter with a 15 man squad = 20 mill lost in insurance per bs = 300 mill. (2 bill values from freighter - 300 mill) / 15 = 113 mill profit. This is too unbalanced compared to other tasks. So, this means that ppl whine since they can make too much isk compared to what they loose doing it.
By increasing the shield/armor resistance, killing freighters in 0.0 means it takes more time, which does this: 1. it makes sure defending the freighter easyer, as defending force can go back to station and get a new ship, come back into the fight, since killing the freighter takes a little time, unless you're more than 15 ppl in BS's. That way a freighter becomes something you play over, not only kill to get loot.
Another solution to freighters, is to make jumpdrive rigs available, which ONLY freighters can fit, OR tier 3 BS's with overpowered Capacitor and power can fit. The jumpdrive is ofc not 5ly capable as with dreads, but more like 1.5ly, so freighters can jump between systems, 2-3 of them at the time, and also needs to bring alot of fuel to jump far away.
