ahhhh I think my question in my thread has been answered !!
I done this mission last night after loosing a Heron, escaping with Condor, lost a Merlin and completed it with an Osprey (my only ship left :( )

this makes me feel better, lol i thought i just sucked that bad.
so just stay away from the roid buildings. fine. crap loot on those drones anyway

i had this mission too.
i¦m a noob with 1mio skillpoints. lost my punisher in that mission, and most of the expensive parts (lasers, ressi membran and some other things) worth more than 1 Mio.

Thank goodness! I thought it was me. This is the first mission I got after training. It was no problem till those boys at the end. Glad to know I just got a hard one and don't suck as bad as I feared. Granted...I'm a noob and still will suck

I've done this mission quite a few times... I'm quite new to the game as well, my guy is only 3 days old. Most of the missions have been almost too easy. Shortly after starting I was able to upgrade to a Merlin ship, which allows you to mount two small missile launchers on it. With those puppies on board I just wait for the closest ship to get to 19 Km and then set Keep at Range to current, lock on and send pairs of flameburst missiles their way.
I've been hoping to upgrade my guns so they can reach out and be used too but the farthest range I can use them is at 10Km, so they are only used if a ship can slip in on me. If you are able to keep them at 10K or more you will seldom get hit (not more then a shield generator can compensate). In my particular case I've found that with two missile launchers, a shield generator, afterburners and maybe a pee shooter or two I can easily do all the rank one missions... I dunno how long this will work, but it works for now. :p
