I am in the (un)fortunate situation where I lost my mission runner Maelstrom due to a disconnect. I have send a petition, but if CCP lets me down Ill be left with 140 mil to play with.. I will in 2 days be able to fly Vagabond, so I guess thats where I will spend my money.
Now the question comes... What the **** should I put in it!? I am used to fly a huge battleship with a shieldtank that took forever to kill and shieldboosts close to 1000 per second. I am of course well trained in shield tanking skills, but what should I use on the Vagabond? It has most low slots (talks for armour tank), however it got 1653 shield over 1337 (coinsidence?) armour which of course talks for shield. I guess it would be easier to get the shield resist at 85% or higher in all kinds of damage than it would be on the armour, however that would leave me with 5 low slots I got no idea what to use for. If it comes to shield should I active tank or passive tank? if t comes to armour, how do I tank armour? (only tried it once before and lets just say that typhoon lasted 2 weeks then got sold so I could buy my precious Maelstrom.
Second... I need speed, thats what the Vagabond is for, so afterburner or MWD? And would the 3 mid slots that would leave me be enough for a shield tank?
Last is high slots... I am gonna use mid sized auto cannons, unless someone got this artillery setu of doom which will just kill anything I look at.
Thank you for your help in advance! A good setup and Ill add my famous last words from last time I went to low sec

I would sugget you buy a few stabbers and learn the tricks there - if you like that sort of combat - then upgrade to the vega.

The problem is a stabber wont quite be able to last long enough on L4 missions to even kill the scrambler frigates there before getting killed.
But ill try it in a complex. However still looking for setups:)

Don't forget that an MWD won't work in deadspace...

OD II = Overdrive II LSE II = Large Shield Extender II Local Istab = Local Hull Inertia Stabilizer (can use T2 too)
But its more a PvP setup then a mission setup.

Armor tanking Vagabond is fine for Sansha missions but the Vagabond is generally useless for L4 missions otherwise. Buy a Typhoon ...

the vega makes an awful pve ship - some hacks make great pvp and pve ships, the vega simply does not do both well - its a pvp skirmisher through and through.

Do NOT PvE in a Vagabond.
Ever.
It's a close range ship, and you do not want to PvE in a close range ship if you can avoid it.
Use a Muninn if you have to use a sub-standard PvE ship rather than buying a new Maelstrom.
If you want a PvP ship, then yes, Vagabond. Don't use it for PvE, or I'll cry. Dark Flare - Corpus PCG |
