"Waaaaa waaaaa waaaaaa ... adapt!"
Isn't that what majority of posters usually advice? There isn't anything wrong with Titans. If eVe does become capital ship online, the Devs would insert mobile planetary platforms in the game. The platforms would be designed to pop Titans. I do not see any problem at all.

Quote: I personally would like to see Titan tanks boosted, Remote DD removed and Capital warpscramblers (only for dreads and carriers) implemented.
That'd be nice. Maybe not enough, or maybe not in the right direction to actually fix the problem, but a move in the good direction.
By the way you say things will go back to normal when the big war is over but with capital and supercapital counts increasing all the time, we will eventually reach a point where they're a problem ALL the time (If we haven't reached it yet, I think we have). ____

Sad really.
... snip
I personally would like to see Titan tanks boosted, Remote DD removed and Capital warpscramblers (only for dreads and carriers) implemented. No other changes need to be made as everything else will level itself out in the longrun once the political situation turns back to normal.
Not sure I understand you. First you disagree with me, then you suggest something exactly along the lines I would suggest.
As for the sky is falling. Well, not yet. But the great war is currently the only thing holding titans in check in my opinion.
Everyone with a titan has to worry about perhaps 1 thing atm: a blob of 50+ dreads cynoing right on top of him when he's not paying attention. Once the war is over, the chance of that happening becomes even slimmer, probably even zero, and therefore titans can be used with even more impunity than they can now.
And the game ruining fun of the titan is already here. A titan means no real fleetfight can be engaged if either side has a titan anywhere nearby. That is already ruining the fun for many.

Actually one thing I've thought is that the current situation with capital ships is we have an oppertunity to create a unique role for stealth bombers by turning them into true anti cap ship weapons rather than the half assed role they have today.
This gives fleets an anti cap ship weapon that is not a cap ship in itself creating a definete need for caps and super caps to have a support fleet.
Give the bombers weapons with a huge DPS but an explosion radius so large it only does noticable damage to capital and super capital ships.

That's assuming you're not at a POS staring at a non-responsive UI of course...
Clicking warp doesn't always mean you're going to warp, and that's part of the problem too.
thats the real problem
i always imagined titans to be capital slayers, slugging it out in the middle of a fleet of capitals - not something that pops its load once an hour but otherwise has the damage output of a badly fitted battleship
i think maybe a reduction in DD range or power, and a massive increase in its damage bonus for capital guns (250% per lvl or somesuch) would enable this kind of role change - where the titan would be a dread killer, but exposed to risk most of the time.

The big question here is û will CCP fix such obvious imbalance (and in general PvP).
Actually will CCP wait long enough with this mandatory fix until they allow BoD cheaters toà you know what.

I've got to admit, the Stealth Bomber idea sounds like a good one.
The thing that torques me off about Cap/SuperCap ships is that I don't want to drive one. Period.
And the way Fleet ops are going, that means the smaller ships, that I rather enjoy flying, are going the way of the Dodo, and that makes me sad. Give me a small, specialized ship with a real, honest to god way of helping in a fleet fight. Give me the ability to sneak a force of 10-30 stealth bombers into a place, and contribute to a fleet fight, instead of just getting blown up by the DD.
Hell, make it a new class ship that's a varient on HAC, or Recon ships. Requiring bookoo skillpoints, and a couple isk worth of money to build/make/use, but give me the ability to actually affect things.
Additionally, A stealth bomber fleet would allow smaller corp's and alliances without the resources to construct supercaps, to have a reasonable chance of dropping, or at least harming, the massed cap ship fleet that appears in their home system. Instead of just going "well crap, nothing we can really, actually do about this except die in the name of the alliance!"

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 04/05/2007 15:44:22 Nice to know there's some support for the idea
I don't think that the bombers themselves need to be changed a great deal - they can already gang warp to the scan result for a capital ship, cloak, approach, and then engage at close range, avoiding enemy fire until the very last minute. What's needed is a special anti-capital missile launcher that uses 5000tf, with 99% less cpu use on bombers. Then we can come up with all sorts of interesting missiles that only fit in this new launcher. Other people have suggested ECM burst missiles, for example.
Of course, if these bombers are actually a force to be feared, people will need to plan for them - destroyers might be the best option. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |

Yes and thats good. Imagine your alliance just invested x hundred manhours and isk into a 4 month project which gets killed because "some battleships" showed up or a 100k frig held it in check. How many Titans would be build ?
The current issue is that ppl overdo the titan hype. There is atm below 10 deployed universewide and ppl already predict and make scenarios for the case they are as common as shuttles. Titans are always limited because of the player behind the comp and because it takes ages to train for one. Even with Evewar 1 beeing over i dont see a capital age where anyone wouldnt take the opportunity to kill a babytitan.
What is in dire need of a change is the role of the titan away from remote to direkt battle however such a fix is not easy to make and im sure ccp wont use the brought brush and "see how it goes" to calm some hysterics because alot of ppl put alot of dedication into building them in the first place.
As i see it there is a minority of ppl who actually see why a titan needs changing and in what way and a majority who just cries foul because they are at the receiving end and cba to build or to defend against one themself. Those 2 groups should not be mixed up when a decision is made on how to change titans.

Nobody is saying that a couple of BS should be able to kill it, rather that it should not be the sole winner of major fleet battles.
What I would do:
1. Remove DD 2. Remove its immunity to scrambling, but give it 15 inherent warp core strength(i.e. like a transport has 2 inherent strength, a titan should have 15). 3. Do a stacking nerf on cap rechargers 4. Give the titan a siege mode which gives it a huge bonus on capital weapon damage and tanking similar to a dread (but even stronger). 5. Change its ship maintenance bay capacity from 5m to something like 25m or even 50m m3. It should be able to refit a complete BS fleet that lost their ships.
Then you have a ship that can tank much better than a dread, has much more damage output than a dread in siege, is still hard to pin down but not impossible, but no battlewinning DD. And of course it would still have the jumpportal etc.
The titan should be a major advantage, but it should not be the '1 button, boom yer dead, thank you for playing' ship it currently is. signature removed - please contact us to find out why (include the URL of your sig) - Jacques([email protected]) |

I agree mostly, just I think the DD should be left out alltoghether.
I made a lil graph with hit chances of gun classes vs ship classes, I think that shows the prob pretty good. Also shows that if CCP went in the direction you said with the titans guns, balance would immediatly get a lot better for titans.
Graph
PS.: Carriers are a bit off, too. Because they can field drones as well as fighters.
