There are a lot of greatposts in this topic. Unfortunately, they are mostly drowned out by the static of trolling. Problem #1 wth this game.
While titans should be hard to kill, they should not be impossible to kill. As has been mentioned before, the only way to kill a titan was removed from the game when they allowed ships to stay within a bubble when they log off. One can never rule out human stupidity of course. Problem #2 with this game.
While titans in and of themselves are not a solopwnmobile, they DO fit the ever-so-impressive Doomsday Device. This device can deliver thousands upon thousands of hit points of damage to anything within the range of it's DD with little to no countermeasure to it's effect. Sure, you can fit your hacs/command/bs to tank 1 DD fairly well (at the expense of effective offensive capability), but with the proliferation of titans (and therefore DD) you have almost nil chance of surviving a blast. From the beginning of eve, CCP has said that there will be a countermeasure for every offensive action in the game. When that countermeasure becomes not participating, we have problem #3.
I too have been playing this game for a great deal of time. I had a small one month hiatus while I moved, but in general, I have been here for it all. In all of my time playing this game, I can never remember another time when lag was so atrocious that even a 15v15 battle became near impossible to have lag free. Problem #4.
Extreme Metagaming. Needs no explanation as being Problem #5.
As in everything else in life, Perception IS Reality. Without discussing any past internal issues, many people still have the Perception that CCP is corrupt. Right or wrong, many people still hold this perception and it DOES affect if people will continue to play this game. I really think CCP needs to look at a good PR firm to correct it's public image (right or wrong). Problem #6.
Starbases have been pretty much hated since their inception. From lack of definition from CCP on how/why they should work, to buggy code, to contradictory GM resolutions, POS are in many people's eyes the bane of Eve. When you introduce a game mechanic such as POS to control a very major action of your gaming time (read sovereignty) you NEED to make sure it works without issue 100% of the time and that the rules are the SAME for all parties. Problem #7.
"A game should not be work," seems to be one of the newer excuses. I can't really fault people for this one. If something that is supposed to be fun is no longer fun, then you need to find something else that is fun. And in all fairness, I'm tending to find myself in agreeance with this more and more everyday. I used to be a slacker who lived in his mother's basement playing Quake all day, but now that I am working 16 hour days at least 5 days a week, sometimes I just want to go and PVP. However, when you realize that instead of pvping, you have to refuel 15 POS, or mine, or build, et al, you begin to ask yourself, "Why do i pay for this again?" Problem #8.
I must commend CCP on it's recent 180 degree turnaround with public communication on upcoming changes, however, I believe a lot of people are becoming dismayed with those actual changes. Nobody will ever know what the changes will bring until those changes are actually implemented, but there is an appearance of building your house on a faulty foundation. Stop introducing new "content" to fix old broken "content" Instead, FIX the old broken content before charging forward with great new things. Problem #9.
I'll stop there as I am running out of characters and I hate continuation posts (along with Top 10 lists) but, I think that I may have outlined the Top 9 Reasons Why Eve is Dying. You may not agree with all of them, but I bet most of you agree with at least some of them... at least that's how I see it.
And before you ask: YES, I am a student at the Stephen Colbert College of Metaphorical Studies. |
