*wake up* *yawn* *get out bed* *feel a bit of bladder pressure* *launch core probes--time to find out where the bathroom door is today*
--
Would it be terrible if you could anchor something before going to bed, pop some probes into it, and then wake up to a cache of bookmarks or some kind of report?
I haven't thought this through any farther than the urination joke. But I assume that it's come up and was roundly attacked as heretical, and I'm curious as to what precisely was so bad about the idea.

I think the core issue is that any change to the mechanics that makes certain activities easier reduces the value of those activities. Many people are well skilled and proficient at scanning. When you make scanning easier for the people who aren't, it degrades the value of those skills. You can certainly argue over the proper difficulty balance, but that tenant is at the heart of all such discussions. After months of living solo in a wormhole, I came to hate scanning and would certainly love such an automatic device, but I don't think it would be good for the game as a whole. The people who are good at it and enjoy it should be rewarded for that. |

One thing I had in mind with the example, but wasn't clear about, is that the device would be slow. You deploy it and then go to bed. I was thinking it'd allow you to wake up and then fly right to the wormholes in your system to see if the other side's interesting or not. You could get your explore on without resenting someone not having been up earlier so that you'd know where your own home's exits are. You'd still have to use probes on the other side, and to spot new sites.
I guess it would still devalue the probing skills of people who want to live peacefully in their own hole. |

These used to exist as POS mods pre Apocrypha. These days scanning is so simple that it really isnt needed though if you do feel a desire to have scanning done for you, drop me a mail with your kspace connections and I would be happy to assist!

Its a pain for sure but its part of what makes WH space different. Also if you are using a WH mapper scanning your home system should not take long as normally only a few sigs will spawn over a day. Its scanning your new connected system with 30 Sigs that's the issue. |

Scanning has become easier each time they adjust the interface. And still people seem to be to lazy to scan... . I would rather have alliance bookmarks first, or fleet bookmarks, those would be a bigger improvement of wh life then this.
No local in null sec would fix everything!

I think you are missing the point, the only place that you would really use this module is your home system, even for a bad scanner scanning you home is not an issue. The place that scanning is hard this module would not be useful hence module is redundant.
As a second note, if you can scan 30 sigs to 100% and BM all of them in less than 5 minute I'll eat my hat (Figuratively as I don't have a hat) . If you mean just find the WHs and BM them, well that's pretty easy. |

Never tried tbh, why would you BM non WH sigs? *shrug* Tell you what, I'll see how many sigs I can get to 100% in 5 min and let you know. Maybe I'll even buy you a hat ;)

There is a huge difference in the skill needed to scan down a player in a site, and scanning down an actual WH/site |

The problem I see with something like this, beyond agreeing with most of the other POV is that a period of time elapses ( less than 24hours ) and your entire WH dynamics change before you come back to get the results. We actively scan not only to 'Hunt' but to also have intel on our entire EVE environment. Also on another note, if you scan relics, data, & gas...helps when dropping a bubbler to catch the prey. Unlike Null plebs, where once they see you in local they simply run for their safes or stations. Alliance/Corp Bookmarks are the #1 problem in WH, confirmed!

A Module to run all, these PvE Sites in our home at night would be better.....
There is also something wrong when you have 30 sigs in your home...than it's not your home I believe ;)

just starting out in a wormhole myself right now so i'm probably doing it wrong, but i have a hard time keeping track of all the sigs and bookmarks. i just wish they'd stay scanned if i leave system so i have less bookmarks to manage and it's easier to see new sigs in system without having to write everything down. even if wh bookmarks would just expire when the wormhole collapses, i dont mind doing the scanning but i've been in wormholes for a few days and i already i have bits of paper lying all over my desk with connections and lists of signatures. |
