I read the claim from above that there are no spacecraft in the World of Darkness. My retort about the Void Engineers and the Sons of Ether died on my fingertips as I realized with sorrow that this probably no longer exists in the new series.
I shed tears for those who will no experience the wonderful diversity and multiplicity of worlds possible in the original series, as I understand that everything got nerfed to the same power level.
Which probably means no rotes to turn a vampire into a lawn chair.

I just hope they make it an adult game. You think the Eve world is gritty? The World of Darkness takes it to a new level. I want to be able to use profanity and talk about whatever I want to in game without worrying that some pantywaist is going to be "offended". If you must have some form of censorship, have it OPTIONAL - an automatic profanity filter that can be turned on or off client side.
If they make the WoD PG-13, there's not a chance in hell I'll play it. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Originally by: Heavy Nova I wish CCP would get the rights to FASA's Mechwarrior universe. Can you imagine a Mechwarrior based game with the level of detail that CCP has put into EVE?
Your wish in honors, but unfortunately that isn't easily possible. The rights to BattleTech as a whole are not held by any single company; it goes as far as single mechs and other silly details being the intellectual property of various companies that were involved at some point.
I believe there was already a Mechwarrior online game in production, but the publisher pulled the plug becaue they couldn't get their rights sorted. It might have been EA... so if Mr. I Buy It All can't get it, CCP might have serious trouble.

If White Wolf own the name Vampire the Masquerade I'd go with that, add to that a title to set the online game apart, say The Rising for example. Such a strong brand, if it is indeed that they're finetuning need not be confused with WoW but all the pull they can get to reel in fans of the RPG and the TV-series.

Haha... Long Limbed Roes, yum!
WoD is a very serious setting though in terms of atmosphere. So too many EVE related inside jokes might be a bit misplaced.
That said, exotic dancers are well within the theme!

I bloody hate test plans and test cases, and i hate testers even worse. Right off the bat the bloody eejits automatically assume my code is going to break. In all the projects i've ever worked on, only 2.. YES TWO bugs have ever been found at it was due to typos.
Testing is so tedious... suppost thats what happens when people hire crap engineers or the design is flawed.
(worked with some bad teams before unfortuantly.. sorry for rant)
World of Darkness MMO is gonna be super sweet! Really excited, cant wait to get my hands on it!! :D
And with CCP's now extensive experience over the last 7 years of developing EVE, you can bet your ass they're gonna make the best choices at design time, if they dont, them um... why? ---

Oh dang, meant to say the hanging longlimb
Though roes should be cool too
Also slaver hounds, yupyup, and exotic dancers yes yes gods yes!
By the way gothikia, if you think you have it bad, graphic dudes got less pay, need to make everything look good all the time('cause everyone can see if you mess up) and there's no "typos" in graphics

FASA Interactive was the arm that dealt with all their computer games eg Crimson Skies, Mechwarrior, Mechcommander etc. This fell into the hands of Microsoft shortly before/just after FASA went down the toilet, which has lead to very arcady Mechwarrior games rather than the sim-like joy I knew & loved. It's also led to the new Shadowrun game being nothing like Shadowrun at all.
As for the PnP & tabletop rights these are all in the hands of Wizkids as far as I understand, who consist of some of FASAs original people who left before things went wrong.
A Mechwarrior MMORPG would be cool given the proper treatment but the last I heard was Microsoft had lost interest in developing the brand after not getting the results they wanted from what they released.

What do they expect. Poor results in produce equals poor results
Hopefully MicroS thinks it's a lost cause, sell the rights to some tiny company in hopes for a quick buck and kick themselves on the butt when that tiny corporation releases a major hit.

I for one would not play a Vampire MMO unless it had elements of Werewolf and/or Hunter in it. If it does have Hunter or Werewolf integration, I'll be dropping everything in Eve and starting there. .

In short:
If they use the old storylines and the old factions from WoD I will so snap it up in a second. I have a Son of Ether that I would really like to take to town.
If they use the new rules and the new storylines - that wipe out a third of the (sub)factions, straight-jacket the rules of the survivors, that reduce the origin stories of what's left to syrupy sweetness, and are the direct reason White Wolf went belly up in the first place, I will never touch it and neither will any of the people in my gaming group. -----

Supernatural elements will not be introduced into EVE (rumors of the Nosferatu modules getting buffed are just that, rumors). I don't remember spaceships in World of Darkness and doubt we will see far future tech in a game with a present day setting.
You might want to check your WoD sourcebooks, pay particular attention to the Void Engineers ;-)

Well, is it a VAMPIRE game, or a WoD Game?
Because World of Darkness includes Mage, and there the Technocrats do indeed have some nifty gadgets at their disposal.
But no, no spaceships. ----- You're not what you are, you're just what you do! So it ends with their butts and it starts with your shoe! - Awesome Car Fun Maker |

Guess you never read the Las Vegas source book? The one that includes some info on area 51? In my last campaign the PC's were assisting a crazy hollow one to cast a multi week ritual (which involved things like harnessing the power of all the letters childen wrote) to bring Santa Claus to life in an attempt to begin a mass awakening of the populace. Shortly after they managed to bring ol' St. Nick into this reality the Hollow One was killed by cyborgs and Santa was shot down by a Void Engineer flying saucer and many cover stories were bandied about.

technocracy is dead and rotes are all thats left in nWOD. You can turn a vampire into a lawn chair but you can't get correspondence 4 and forces 4 and blow up the universe anymore
