I have not seen the movie yet. Was just wondering in the context of the story if it was poor, or he was just a USA basher/hater...
Oh, and it is a bad thing for an American to be patriotic these days, just as it is for a white man to be proud of his heritage...

I think it was more to do with that fact that he flies in with the US flag behind him, and i couldn't help but think to myself "...but both the bad guys in question are also american... i don't get it"
There is no context in that film with which to be patriotic. It just seems like the whole waving flag thing was there just for the sake of being there, to pander to the test audiences.
I just watched it too. It reminded me of X-Men 3. Too many characters, too many storylines in one film and too interested in hitting certain plot-type quotas because they're more intersted pleasing as many people as possible rather than artistic integrity.

Edited by: Kodiak31415 on 08/05/2007 04:04:22 I've heard that spiderman goes all emo and crys alot. I've also heard they they tried to make an in depth plot with lots of meaningful conversation and blah blah blah. If I wanted plot, character development and an emo cry fest I wouldn't go to a 'action' movie based on a comic book. Think I'll save my money and pay for half a month of eve. _______________________________ Pleese exucse any seplling erroos in this psot |

TBH this should have been two movies rather than one. It seemed squished, and rushed at points with enough story to actually be split. The venom section was late and 'quick'.
The only bit I really DIDN'T like was that nightclub scene...felt like I suddenly dropped into a completely different film for a couple minutes.
Not as good as #2, which imho, was/is one of the best superhero films ever made. The other being Batman Begins, which is still my personal reigning champ of hero flicks.
Oh, and I have to say it: Bruce Campbell RULES. that is all.

lol i thought it was okay. The American flag part was just toe curlingly awful. I mean really really awful. [shudder]
I loved the quote from one reviewer who said that it would most definetly win the award for 'Most Hardmen Crying in one movie' That did make me laugh.
Most of my complaints about the movie would have been fixed if it had been a little darker and gave maybe a 15 certificate.

Bad movie, I swear Venom was hitting on Spider-man the entire time and not in the good ultra-violent way either.

The first two Spiderman movies were campy and cheesy. And I dont know how you can consider Spidey #2 and Batman Begins to be better than the first Batman (Jack Nicholson as Joker ffs). The first two X-Men movies tower over Spiderman. Spiderman, all of them, were made for children.

Batman begins is an amazing film, Spiderman the original is better than X-men by a long way unfortunately.

How you consider the X-Men films any different from the Spiderman films baffles me. They're aimed at the same target audience.

It wasn't as bad as many have said and I expected. As always, expect the worst when watching any film these days and sometimes you'll be mildly entertained

Patriotism is patriotism, but cheese is cheese.
Watching a bad guy get his ass kicked to the rousing tune of Stars And Stripes Forever, while 1000 small children cheer and wave candles, while the hero quips one liners about duty.........thats what we call "naff".
Not that I'm saying that's what that scene was like (not seen it yet), but I think that's what he's getting at --------

Its truly interesting how different people go to the same theatre, see the same movie, and come out with completely DIFFERENT opinions on what they viewed.
I cede your opinion to you. We all have one, and in the realm of film, its DEFINITELY just opinion. To claim, however, that what you say has any more merit than what I say, when it comes to movies, is just juvinile, silly or downright idiotic. Check any movie review site to see just how differently people view the same celluloid.
As for your opinion, you are way outnumbered regarding spiderman vs. X-men. The 2nd spiderman film is widely regarded as one of the best superhero films of all time, and not by just a few fanbois.
Batman Begins. I just re-watched the first batman film with jack n. Good flick. campy silly compared to the new version. This isn't a knock, by the way, the camp/silly really worked well for the story. In MY OPINION, though, new version was the better story.

Edited by: Frug on 09/05/2007 07:27:02 I'd agree with a lot of the comments here. It had some really excellent parts mixed in with some complete and utter crap.
And the US flag part was pretty lame.

It was a good film. Be it as cheesy as it was, but hey! if you ever read original comics as a kid you'd know the comics are quite cheesy. So the film so the film filled that aspect. Maybe a little too much but meh. Stan Lee was just havin a little fun.
Take for example the crane out of control scene. It was awesome!! some of the fight scenes were quality!
The ending sucked thats the only part I hated. Spider man should have like incinerated sand dude. (wont say anymore on the ending )
Not many films of this genre pull off: great action and funny.
This film did it.
Worth the pennies.
Doubters of this film obviously weren't into comics. Which is funny coz why watch it??
