Quote: The long-rumoured new instalment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is set to be unveiled later this month - and it's another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft, CVG can reveal.

I'm personally hoping it does take stuff from WoW and maybe copies the flarn out of EVE.
Copying stuff from other games ain't bad, it's evolution, and just because WoW isn't so "artfully different" as EVE, doesn't make it bad. Hopefully this is made with good taste, but probably will take many years for bliz to take this one out.
I played WoW, and thought it was a poor poor game. Very dull, highly unadventurous, and little to recommend it. It is, however, extremely popular (read = cash cow).
Now the same company is making another MMO, set in the twin universe of the last MMO. Who wants to place bets that they don't stick with the format that's won 6 million players?
Starcraft was an excellent game. I think its a very sad state of affairs that it's reincarnation will be, I imagine, as pretty much a new skin for WoW. It deserved a proper sequel........
So yes, for me, copying stuff is bad. --------

Originally by: Brastagi Must you people keep thinking they are making another MMORPG to compete with their own MMORPG? Ain't that profitable. Even if it turn out to be MMO. I can say it would pretty much be MMOFPS. Like Planetside does. It think it's a better formula if Starcraft is going to be one. But I'm sticking to Starcraft 2.
Their current MMO (WoW) is a sharded game with several thousand unrelated, unconnected servers, with different rules and such for each. It seems perfectly reasonable to assume that they could release a few hundred new servers with "new rules"(and new graphical skins and such) and it will attract yet more customers.
They could treat it just like a new WoW expansion (only more expensive) and still rake in the cash. --------

Edited by: Patch86 on 08/05/2007 15:22:12 Incidentally, I don't know why you all keep banging on about it being in space. From what I remember about Starcraft, space barely came up. Most of the game's content was soldiers 'n tanks. Just like Warcraft, only with guns.
What I'd expect from a MMO? Be a denizen of the Starcraft universe! be a soldier, a medic, or a shama-.....er.....engineer! --------
