buy as many plex as I could since it is the best way to store isk against inflation. whelp the majority of my combat ships in ill advised roams. move whatever assets I'd like to keep to npc stations. set the longest skill queue I can manage. log off and come back in however many months it takes for the itch to pop up again. |

Then sell the minerals and send the isk to the Magic Bus or something similar.

Question was if you quit today what would you do. not if this was your last log ever. Convinced today, unconvinced 3 years later. Things change. Didn't think I'd be coming back when I decided I had enough, fortunately the ships, isk and plex were there. Moral of the story, keep your stuff |

Oh i know, I have taken plenty of breaks. The real moral of the story is when you know its time to move on, as hard as it is, there is only one way to possibly do it.

I had a time out for 711days... half of it with sub half without, coming back made the game feel fresh and new after that time, and coming back to my empire of assets and isk with the high skilled toons made it very nice, and since done some epic things.
Yes I understand eve takes a lot of real time if you wish to do well, but just sub and go on time out for a year... rather than take the option away forever.
Even if I was never going to play again, I would never delete my toons or trade them, if I did that... What would of been the point in all them years of gaming ? if I just wiped out all that awesome forever. would rather my toons live on within the game than just do a pointless delete, self control is the problem not eve.
However to the OP, I would do some epic event, and go out with style... Grace & flare but still leave my toons within the game for all time.

Glad you had a good run, OP Kind of sorry to see you go, but understand you have decided it's time. If I decided to stop EvE I'd probably just give out my stuff quickly without much bother, and then biomass my characters. "Burn the ships, no sailing back" Maybe I'd do something creative like Tippia did, but likely won't mess with doing such. I'm not ready to call it yet, but when the time to stop comes, it will most likely be like that. All the best to you!

Throw a party!
Each Christmas/New Year's I throw a party in my original starter system. Fireworks, snowballs. I do it every night until I run out of supplies. Somewhere between 4 and 7 nights, usually.
New players come out, ask questions, enjoy the show. They engage with another player, or players if there is a crowd watching, and learn there are other ways of enjoying EVE besides mining or industry or shootouts or exploration.
I know Rupee Rue usually has a variation of this in Dodixie with a ship, so pilots can get a killmail, over the holidays.
So, have a party! With your funds, you could have a party to end all parties. Fund fabulous party favors, for all attending. Talk with the guys who show up to participate and relive your memories, the good and the bad.

A long time ago in a system far, far away I was seriously tempted to biomass this char. Hopefully, one corp member (SpoonBender79) said: STOP you fool. You will regret it. And I certainly would. Because now, whenever I need to get my EvE fix I resub and log in. Sometimes for week, sometimes for months. Click and and I am back. With all my skills, ships and ISK. Otherwise I would need to grind all crappy things again. So, if you have urge to stop playing or delete your char, just log off for some time. Because noone will care if you quit or ragequit. Noone will notice if you self-destruct into supernova with your super, after reprocessing all your stuff. If you ever cared about EvE - you will be back. If you not - you wouldn't ask this question :)

I think I would donate all my ISK and assets to various causes, maybea chunk to "the magic school bus", the rest amongst people that help new people in game. I may even contact someone to organise an event like destroy a capital ship, I cannot fly one so I would have to get someone else to do it. |

[Kenobi voice] Hello there.
I actually "have" quit EVE, although by no means did I want to.
I (as another PC) was in a great PVP corp, was learning the ropes, had good interactions on coms, and really enjoy the game. That character wanted a bit of independence, so left the corp but still wanted to ally with them and continue learning. This didn't go down too well apparently. Then killed off first character (bad mistake I guess) and proceeded to attempt to join several other corps, got called "spai" a lot, got a bit jaded from lack of social contact in-game and the jaded nature of interactions.
Then in RL crisis hit, my gaming comp died and I became homeless. I'm back on my feet (and a bed) now, but currently stuck with a potato comp which can't play EVE.
If I end up "quit" forever (getting a good comp will take some time, rebooting account/skill queue etc even more) I think I'd PM an old corp buddy or two and see if they'd like some donated space junk and iskies.

Quitting because you're angry or disillusioned with the game is different than feeling it's become an impediment to your life. But I wouldn't biomass. I can't think of any bridges I've burned that I didn't eventually regret.
Biomassing feels like rage-quitting to me. Like when I smoked -- in the morning I'd decide cigarettes were out of control and I'd crush the pack and throw them away. That night I'd be digging through the trash hoping one might be salvageable. When I finally quit for good it was because I found a better reason to not smoke than the enjoyment I got from smoking.
TL;DR: I'd liquefy most of my assets. Give parting gifts to players or groups I care about. Maybe pull off one ridiculously expensive stunt. And leave plenty of startup funds in case my life changed in the future and I had time and desire for Eve again.
Most importantly I'd like to leave with something that feels good rather than bitter.
P.S. OP: Best of luck with the new chapter in your life!

Buy a metric ton of Plex. Unlike the reasons others listed, save them for the next charity donation thing. You could literally contribute 10-15k worth to a good cause with over a trillion isk. |

I am actually quitting this month, as I wont renew my sub. I'm not going to do anything with my ISK / assets. I'll decide what to do when and if I get back to the game. Which might be next month, might be never. Because I don't know that yet, I'll keep my stuff. |

Then you're not quitting...
Quitting needs a mindset akin to stopping drinking or smoking, would you keep a six pack in the fridge and a packet of fags, just in case?
I get that it can be difficult to leave a time investment like a game behind, i've done it in the past..Pox Nora, WOW, Dofus...just walked away from them and if I ever decide to go back then I have no problem starting from scratch..
Unsubbing for a bit isn't quitting ;)
Solecist Project...." They refuse to play by the rules and laws of the game and use it as excuse ..."
" They don't care about how you play as long as they get to play how they want."
Welcome to EVE.

I think I have about 150 billion I'd have to get rid of. First give everyone in Eve a Slaver hound! No better company for a Eve pod pilot! Second I'd buy every firework I could find and have a huge show in Olo, where my corp sort of got its start. With whatever was left I'd fly around randomly and hand out isks and whatever stuff I still owned. I'd get to the point were all I still had was the noob ship and the stuff those come with and I'd dock in some starter station and then I'd log off for that final time. Uninstall Eve from my PC and spend the evening with an adult beverage reading all the old issues of Eon.
The next day I'd go back to playing Everquest more as a statement about my dislike for WoW. My Bard Elf would then often dream of life in space while fetching arrows......
When I wasn't wasting time in Everquest I'd log into the free server for Earth and Beyond and ponder just what a perfect space game experience could be...
OK, that's all a lie, I'm never leaving Eve!! |

Liquidate all assets, buy PLEX with the Isk as such acquired, PLEX accounts till the stars burn out. That way I would always be able to come back in the future.
It's hypothetical though, EvE is like Hotel California.....
Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format.
Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Leave them as they are - I am well aware that to leave Eve forever is not that easy.
If, for some reason I actually to leave forever (due to poor health for example) I would pick a random, eager new player in the Help channel and give him/her all my assets.
This is not a signature.

No one ever really "quits" EVE, people just take long extended breaks from it.
TL;DR If you didn't read the entire post perhaps you're probably ADHD. (seek help)

Can confirm what most are saying..
I quit Eve in 2009. Came back 2016 for a bit, then left again.. Just resubbed.
In 25 years when your kids are grown up and it is time to retire, you may want to plug in to the Full VR Matrix-like game that is Eve-online and live out your years as a space pilot.
That would suck if you had biomassed a classic character years earlier. |
