Since my previous loan request didn't go through (promises were made, but no real action from the lender's part), I'd like to make an open request.
I've made this alt to dualbox Rattlesnakes in C3s/C4s (currently sitting on 5 million SP and a Rattle hull ready). My main is in a wormhole corp with a C3 static, large active playerbase during my time of play. The risk of getting ganked is quite minimal with the precautions we take. Using a single toon in a single Rattler without hole bonuses I can achieve 200-250m isk / hour, training this guy up i'm hoping for a bit more than that (considering i'll be able to run c4 sites + c3 relic/data sites). I'd need about ~5 more injectors to turn this guy into a Rattler pilot I'd be satisfied with, but I could make do with meta 4 rapid heavies/faction heavy drones in the meantime, but I'd need the gal/cal battleship skills a bit higher to sustain the DPS of the sites i'm looking to run. I'm looking to speed up the training process, I can buy injectors in-corp for 600m. I'm looking for a loan of 1.2B-1.8b for starters, I should be able to repay you within 2-3 weekends (that's when I have time to play).
I'm posting from my alt because corp policy doesn't allow me to post from my main. I can't offer collateral in the value of the loan, I'm looking for an uncollaterized loan.
Message me if you are interested, interest % is negotiable. |

Limited play time, I'd like to minimize the amount of time I spend ratting in the long run, plus maximize what I earn during the time I do rat. |

It sounds like you're violating one of the principal rules of eve, which is don't fly something you can't afford to lose. Even if you think your wormhole is safe, what's your plan to pay off the loan if your Rattlesnakes get blown up before you farm back the ISK? |

My fits are quite cheap, with the dualbox isk/hour I approximated i can make the price of a single Rattler back in 2-3 hours. Cheaper Rattlers mean higher SP investment to achieve similar results to an expensive one, which is why I'm dumping isk into skill injectors rather than on modules. We don't really get ganked, we are the ones ganking people. It's easy to know what to do to avoid that when it's what you do yourself on a regular basis. |

I dont understand this. You answer the questions with "farm the isk to repay" yet your state "limited play time". If you can just farm the isk then why not farm for the rattle?
If you dont want to seem needy I doubt coming here was a better option.
What guarentes can you provide, in your limited playing time and outside of "farm the isk" (something that solves this whole mess) can you provide for loosing these assets?
I still cant wrap around "Farm to repay" yet Farm to pay is not an option. What guarantees do you have to offer that you wont have even limited time to play, you wont be booted from corp, and you wont loose the assets?
Please understand what you are asking is extremely high risk. You have also never explained what I get out of this for forking over 1.8Billion isk (or I at least missed it). |

If I have 3-5-5 hours to play (fri-sat-sun), and i rat 7-8, i'd rather be making 350m-400m isk/hour (minus warp times, hole rolling, hole quality) than 200-250m isk/hour (minus same stuff), even if it means I'll have to fork interest over to someone 1 month from now.
I don't get why you want me to bend over backwards for assurances and failsafes. My assurance and failsafe is staying safe in the first place, and how even if things go wrong I'm at worst down only one Rattlesnake. The average ganking situation would be a 10-20 man rescue fleet bailing me out in the next 3 minutes, and if that isn't something backing me up i'm not ratting in the first place (rare occourence). Breaking Rattlers is hard, there's ample time for the cavalry to arrive. And having proper hole control during bearing means that I know well before **** goes down that something is coming my way.
Also, in my first post I expressed that I'm looking for offers where you explain your terms, and I'll choose the most favourable. |

I hope you can understand that from an investor's perspective, being told that your plan is "staying safe in the first place" isn't reassuring at all. That's the plan for every PvE'er, explorer, miner and hauler - But sometimes Bob has other plans.
You've also mentioned your plan is to dual-box. AKA - both Rattlesnakes will be in space running missions at the same time. How can you guarantee you would only lose one? Answer - you can't. You can speculate that it is very unlikely that you would lose both, but you can't guarantee it. And if you lose both, you lose your ability to pay back your loan.
You also mentioned your corp just fought off an eviction attempt and as a result everyone's wallets are thin. Sounds like the eviction attempt hit the corp hard (not symbolic of a permanent fixture). If your corp does get evicted, how do you make ISK to pay back your loan?
You say you've received some offers in game. I would suggest you take one of them because I can't see anyone who frequents these forums wanting to get involved in this. But, I've been wrong before. Good luck! |

I think these lines of questions mainly boil down to not understanding how wormhole space works. A wormhole system is hermetically sealed once you have eyes on the holes, which means no new threats come in that you don't know about. Knowing if a hostile entity is active in one of the systems is also something that regular scouting provides before engaging in PVE, and if that situation arises, you can re-roll the hole, or just roll them out of that particular connection. Rolling can be done in one pass, so it usually happens before the entity can react. That leaves you with the inhabitants of the hole you want to bear in. You warp to the citadels/poses, check corp killboards, and make a threat assessment. Also, from what I found, the systems we roll into are empty (or the inhabitants are asleep), or the corp that set up shop died, or it's some guy and his 2 alts living solo. I tire of going into details to be honest, living in wh space is very different from going in from hisec (daytripping). If you know what you are doing and have a corp to back you up, PVE losses are miniscule. You'd have to be really bored to have a cloaky fleet camped in a system, waiting for hours for people to roll in. A well-fit passive rattle takes a long time to go down, giving the rescue fleet more than enough time to bail you out. Also, my rattles put out 1100 sustained DPS each with rapid heavies (that includes reload time), so unless they bring EWAR they are in for an ass-kicking.
Eviction attempts sometimes happen, but what happened isn't something that affects day-to-day life after the attempt is over. They tried to get some citadel timers, we kicked their asses, but fights cause ship loss on both sides. They went home, gfs were said, it's over now. You have to consider that most wormhole entites are friendly towards each other at the end of the day, eviction attempts are mostly happening to create content, rather than the revenge fantasies you can sometimes read about.

I don't. Your explanation of wormhole space details how it's very unlikely to lose one (if your corp is competent) but it doesn't, at all, address the issue that if you _do_ lose one there is no particular reason why you shouldn't lose the other at the same time.

Not staying on the warp-in, MJD, high sustained tank, rescue fleet, hole control. Puzzle it together.

Which also means that you can only rat and PVE once you have a sufficient number of friends online who have dedicated scouts/scanner alts that are constantly scanning when a new anom pops up. And no one is going to do that for a corp mate unless they either get a cut or are PVE-ing themselves, which begs the question of why you cant run anoms with your corpmates and make isk perfectly optimally, that way.
And no, as a person who is currently in an active WH corp, Rolling takes a fleet, because no one wants to sacrifice a raven or HIC or whatever you use to roll the WH with, without sufficient backup.
So youre basically telling us that you have a whole fleet that just stands there on standby just so you can PVE. So what, theyre just sitting there, staring at the screen all day while you go out and make ISK? How laughably unbelievable that is.
What we do, is we constantly check Dscan. Thats it. Sure, everyones on comms on the off-chance that someone gets dropped on, but we dont have dedicated scouts and scanners who are just looking at the hole just so that we can PVE, because thats a waste of everyones time. The only time we have a dedicated scan/scout is if were actively looking for fights.
Everything you say is so unbelievable, from someone who is actually living in a WH.
But thats not even the most laughable part of your story.
Quote: Eviction attempts sometimes happen, but what happened isn't something that affects day-to-day life after the attempt is over. This is.
I have maybe 3 billion isk on this char right now, and about 12 billion isk on my char that is in a WH corp. But even on a bad day of defending our citadel, i still only lose around 1-2 billion isk, which is easily replaceable by me(our standard doctrine is Legions, maybe ill lose 2 and thats only around 1.4 bill total). And im considered one of the poorest corpmate in our corp.
How incompetent does your corp have to be to become completely drained as to not be able to afford a mere 1.2 billion isk after a defense? Did you guys throw wave after wave of shitfit shiny bhaalgorns at your enemies or something? Its baffling to hear that your corp, after a single defense, has grown so poor that no one can loan you 1.2 billion isk.
The more likely explanation is that either your corpmates dont trust you enough to lend you the isk, or you are simply just trying to scam. |

Again, only shows the incompetance of your corp/alliance if they become so poor after a single defense as to not being able to afford 1.2 bill loan for you.
My concerns are valid. You are the second person ive seen in the past few months claiming to have a dual box rattlesnake set up and asking for a non-collateral loan. |

As far as scam attempts for loans go this is one of the more interesting proposals I've read lately.
This forum is generally pretty dilligent and it will be hard to scam a lot here. OP, you might do better elsewhere.
Loans with no collateral usually only work if you invest considerable time into crafting a believeable story that hasn't been done time and time again. This rattlesnake story is full of holes - if you can service the loan as trivially as you claim, you certainly can manage without it.
Do try again though, OP. I'm interested to see what sort of scams your alts can come up with.

I'd say it's less that you're asking for an uncollaterized loan and more the fact that you're asking for one with a 10 day old character (as of this post time) while claiming you're already sitting on 5m SP with it. A Day 0 toon has maybe 500k SP, and even assuming you had cybernetics 5 for free and had +5s plugged in your head, there's no way a 10 day old character could possess 5m+ SP short of consuming skill injectors. That also means you've been able to easily afford at least 5 injectors for that character already. Unfortunately, the whole "I fly safe so I wont ever lose these ships" assurance is also tissue paper thin for attracting potential loaners. It's much for the same reason I havent tried picking one up myself for busting out T2 hulls from the dozens/hundreds of blueprint copies I have. Market volatility is so unstable right now that "I dont know what the profit margins are today, but yesterday they were at 1.337 billion isk! And a 9001 isk loss the day before that, but dont mind that, think of yesterday's profit!" hardly has the ring of a safe investment to people. |

Just out of curiosity...after reading this thread I'd like to raise a few points 1.) "10-20 man rescue fleet" out of all those people, no individual has any money spare for you? Why do you assume asking for a loan here on an NPC character with no incentive to pay back will result in a better answer than asking your corp for money? 2.) "1.8b is still a lot of time" - if it's a lot of time, how do I know you won't just send ISK to main character and biomass? You're not losing anything after all. 3.) Why haven't you accepted the offers you have received so far? I don't see anything positive in this thread, I don't know how you yourself assume better offers will come forward from the discussion that has been conducted in this thread.
Honestly, like...it was worth a shot, I suggest you get back to the drawing board and come up with something believable. Pay attention to the details and when replying, don't reply with something that can be used against you such as "20 guys can come rescue me but can't loan me money"

"1.8b is still a lot of time" - if it's a lot of time, how do I know you won't just send ISK to main character and biomass? You're not losing anything after all. 3.) 1.) They might, but like I said in several posts above, I'd like to solve this without my corp. The emphasis was on the "I don't want to" part, and I told you why. 2.) I can't say anything that would make you believe I wouldn't, so I don't see the point in asking. Nature of the beast when it comes to uncollaterized loans from non-MD regulars. You either take a chance with me or you don't, I can't give you anything but my word. 3.) I have an interview set up for tomorrow with one of the people who offered the best terms. I have my phone to answer questions from, I don't see a reason to lock the thread. I'll post here if we've come to an agreement.

I dont want to dishearten you. MD can be a bit aggressive sometimes but we have seen basically every type of scam loan IPO and everything inbetween. people want to aggressively question to provoke mistakes. Ones that you have either intentionally or unintentionally left yourself open to.
If you get the loan, congrats, someone took a risk and there is a very strong possibility they dont expect it to be successful but it can happen. (more often that not private agreements are made with alts to farm reputation so if you need another loan in the future you may wish to be prepared for that)
If you dont get the loan, then dont kick a fuss, just get the funds through farming over time or as has been suggested speak to other alliance members. if there is a 10-20 man defense fleet willing to try to bail you out risking their own ships im sure borrowing from them would be managable should you opt to go that route in future.
I read this when it was posted and simply dismissed it as scam fodder, try as you may to say it isnt, you cannot change what another person believes, you can make counter claims but without evidence to back the claims up its 1v1 and no clear winner.
Collateral is always a game changer. people will look for collateralized loans because they are more secure, uncollateralized is balanced by interest, more interest more people may consider it and the more will be put off due to the interest. its finding a balance of attracting interested parties without scaring them away as the collateral is so high it screams scam.
Should you try again for a loan, set out the terms you would like, provide as solid a business plan as you can, if possible have collateral. solid business plan is not dualboxing wh sites and 10-20 people will come save me. |

To be honest, I'm a pretty risk-averse person when it comes to PvE. If there's a slight possibility that I could get blown up, I don't really undock my PvE boats. There's no real risk/reward when it comes to blue loot - you won't make more if you start ratting with 5 neutral ships on dscan. I tried to give the impression that I know when it's safe and when it isn't, but I guess it's hard to put yourself in my shoes as an investor if you haven't lived with a large wh corp before.
Anyways, thanks for the advice. |

That's the part that makes no sense. Who knows your main? Who already has to trust you? Who knows these Rattlers and ratting setup actually exist? Who knows the arrangements for security of the hole are good? Who will benefit themselves to a degree if you get this cash? Your corpmates. They're so obviously the first choice to borrow the money from that "I don't want to" doesn't really cover it. |

I've answered every question thrown at me that wasn't just the author being a smartass - I'm sorry if uncollaterized loans have a bad rep. Me posting from an alt has to do with opsec in general, we have strict rules regarding posting with an in-corp toon. Seems like a good idea in hindsight with all the hate i'm getting.
I don't mean to pile on, but 1.2-1.8 billion ISK is not a lot of time that you'd have to put in to farm with 1 rattler when you state you can make 200m-250m an hour solo. Further, it is quite strange that you refuse to ask your friends for help. Even if you don't want to ask them for actual ISK, you could still ask one of them to duo with you and let you keep the loot and salvage with a promise to pay them back after you use the money to train up your second rattler. That way your time is maximized as you want it to be, and you get the ISK to fund your second Rattler. I can't think of too many people who wouldn't be willing to spend 3 hours helping out a corp mate in that fashion. Hell if you can get more than one person in your corp who likes you enough to help you, it wouldn't even take 3 hours. |

This is to confirm that I (the Borrower) have accepted a ISK 1.8 billion uncollateralized loan from JitaPu (the Lender), with the following terms:
- Principal: ISK 1.8 billion - Repayment Date: 7 May 2017 (prior to EVE downtime) - Interest: 5% (ISK 90 million) per week, payable each Sunday prior to downtime (each an Interest Payment Date), with first the payment due on 16 April 2017. - Early prepayment: if the Borrower wishes to repay the loan ahead of the Repayment Date, he may do so on any Interest Payment date, however, prepayments within the first 4 weeks of the loan term are subject to a make-whole provision, requiring the Borrower to pay the Principal plus 20%, less any Interest already paid. - Extensions: maturity extensions require consent of both the borrower and the lender. - Collateral: nil. |

I'm more than happy with the amount I got, I was hoping the small ask price would make people more willing to risk. Thinking back on it, with the numbers I presented, I should have went into the 3b range to make things more believable (it came up often in this thread as well), but that's a conclusion I made after the die was cast, so I rolled with it.
An API check was the thing I was most afraid of. I could have talked myself out from showing transaction history (opsec), but I couldn't talk my way out of having no assets to speak of ("But they are on my main" - "Contract them over so i can see them"), nor not having the SP that I talked about in my original post ("I haven't injected them yet" - "Inject so I can see/Transfer the injectors over so I can see"), nor being an alpha clone.
To be honest, uncollaterized loans from unknowns will always be scams if the receiver thinks things through. No reputation to lose, everything to gain.
Even if the client is reputable, reputations can be manufactured, and if the price is right, can be thrown away the same way. Hell, if you are famous enough, people won't even mind, you'll be a legend (but this is more applicable to third partying).
To be honest, MD regulars pick apart these loan schemes from the wrong angle. I could write you the most believable fairy tale (I think I did good) when I have f* all to back it up with. The story isn't important, it's the nature of the loan itself that provides 0 safety to the lender.
Anyways, I had a lot of fun. This social aspect is what got me into EvE, and is what I stay for to this day (the spaceships are cool too).

Hi guys, I thought I would add a bit of colour around how I fell for this. I made some pretty basic mistakes, primarily due to lack of RL time to do proper research. Hell, I did not even read the posts in this thread over the past few days before I spoke to Manbun earlier today.
In hindsight, a lot of things should have rung my alarm bells. I was thinking about asking for APi keys but honestly could not be bothered to waste all this time on a 1.8bn loan. Key lesson for the future is to pass if I simply don't have the time to do proper background checks.
As for Manbun's work, he did a pretty good job. His backstory seemed plausible, though I was a bit confused as to why he would not reveal the name of his wormhole corp to me...
In summary, mistakes are learning opportunities (and hazing opportunities for all neutral observers ). I have learned my lessons, so feel free to pile in with your comments. |

You think you did good? As in, you think your story was good?
I mean, granted, the scam was successful (so congrats for that), but leading up to that there are two pages filled with MD regulars poking holes in your story. No part of it made sense and no one was falling for it. And when questioned, your answers just created more questions and further demonstrated how flawed your story was.
Manbun Scarfbeard wrote:If the scammer did his homework, he'll be able to talk himself out of questions regarding the backstory.
You sound like a person who thinks they were able to successfully talk themselves out of the questions they were asked. Granted, you fooled JitaPU, but I hope you haven't convinced yourself that you fooled anyone else. Again, see first two pages of this forum thread.

Wow. I've heard so much about how jaded and cynical Eve players are. I didn't realize scams like this were still a thing - I didn't think anyone trusted anyone by this point. Glad to see that assumption is wrong (although sad to see someone get scammed).
I'm too new to the game to not see 1.8 Billion ISK as $27.00 (I can't PLEX my accounts yet, so I gotta buy them), but I'm glad to see the person who got scammed is OK with it. I have a feeling I wouldn't be taking it as well. You Eve players are alright |

Hi guys, you all make fair comments. The one thing I would say here is, when you consider making uncollateralized loans, it is effectively like playing roulette. It is gambling. It is not investing. You may fool yourself into thinking that a loan gone well was a "good investment" but you really just got lucky. Please note, I am not saying this applies to collateralized loans.
So the questions are, do you like gambling, do you like the thrill of it, can you afford a total loss, how will it affect your mood if you lose/get scammed. Everyone has to answer these questions for themselves.
Alexi Stokov wrote:You can't claim he did a good job when you just admitted to not reading anything in the first 2 pages.
With regards to Alexi's comment, Alexi is right, in hindsight, I should have known, had a I actually read the full thread before making my decision, but I did not and part of the reason for that, other than lack of RL time, was Manbun's performance on the call, which you guys obviously did not hear. He did very well.
To those who think that he put in too much effort for what turned out to be a pretty small profit (he probably could have made that money had he spent all that time actually ratting), I can see how his satisfaction does not come from the amount scammed but from the fact that he did manage to pull off a successful scam at all. As someone who has never scammed anyone, I can to some degree relate this to other activities in EVE, such as ganking ratters / miners in cloaky ships, where the hunt leading up to the kill provides more satisfaction than the actual kill.
Personally, I hold no hard feelings over this. Manbun created content. A sandbox like EVE would be boring as hell if it was not for people creating content, in whatever shape and form. This is not a moral endorsement of scamming, but just a practical view of life in EVE.

That's the spirit, but let's go further; it's completely moral to scam in EVE, just as it's moral to lie in Illuminati or betray a trust in Diplomacy. We're playing a game, and this is part of the game. |
