Reading the NPC corp chat recent years, I have noticed the attitude has become alot more harsh the last years.
I'm not touchy, but it starts to get annoying seeing constant streams of IRL topics (American voting/racism/active IRL wars) etc as subjects going on in the NPC corp chats, and if you kindly remind them this is an online game, the result is always an universal standard 7 (8 if you want to get technical) character reply.
Years ago, the NPC corp chats was people who was learning each other the extremely harsh enviroment we have come to love. Today, its a melting pot of rude people and IRL political flaming.
I could obviously block these (and I do minimize the window), but is this really the first thing we want our first players joining eve to experience?
Is ISD's still moderating the NPC chats or is a larger focus needed? |

If you require "safe spaces" then Eve probably is not the game for you.
When I am on my alts that are still in NPC corps I completely ignore corp chat unless I am in a mood to troll. If I were you I'd just not look at it.
As far as new players go they will need to learn about Eve at somepoint, and again if they need "safe spaces" then it's probably better that they learn that Eve is not the game for them. |

I don't think it's about safe spaces. (And people who deride safe spaces always fail to understand what that phrase even means and just confirm they themselves are culturally obsolete.) It's about fun. EVE is a social game, it has very little value outside of a social context. If the entirety of the social content in the game is the opposite of fun, then the game itself is not worth playing.
@OP, there is some moderation that can be done in all public channels, though it usually only covers extremely crass language. Stuff like racism, RL threats, excessively lewd comments. Terrible conversation in itself isn't typically moderated, assuming it's otherwise "clean." If a channel needs some moderation you need to file a ticket. It usually seems it's just 1 or 2 garbage people that need to be flushed away for the conversation to improve.

I personally don't need a "safe space", as I already minimized the window.
But considering this is what greets new players to Eve, running into a flaming discussion of the ongoing conflict in Gaza or whether or not Trump uses a toupe might be off topic for the game, specially the racism tone. - But if thats what it takes to keep new players hooked, fine by me.. vOv |

Ok, back to topic. The exact same reasons aplied when CCP got rid of the foreign language channels, back then it was them russians and ukrainians who couldn't shut their faces. Yes, NPC channels should be moderated, but I seriously doubt that the ISD has the manpower for a 24/7/365 moderation of said channels, the're volunteers after all. Maybe they should get rid of those channels as well, i don't know.
Sidenote: Roadkill isn't a toupe.

Neither, quite obviously.

There was once in history a guy who called others "culturally obsolete" and we all now how that ended.
I don't care if you're Trans, Bi, Lesbian, Gay, Christian, Jew, Muslim and so on, feel free to do so. I simply dgaf. It could be that I don't like your believes, but still I would fight to defend them, as long as they are constitutional rights. But when somenone is starting to dickslap me with his believes and tries to force them upon me, he for sure gets a serious problem.
The world i want to live in, is a world that has no needs for SJW's and all the other extremist BS. I want to live in a world where your merits are important, not your religon or your skin color. I want to live in a world were the literacy rate is 100%, where death of starvation and poverty is unknown, where war is a thing of the past, religious and political extremism is a dark shadow of the past. That's the world I want to live in.
SJW and their BS are not better than fascism, communism, The Westboro Baptist Church, the Klan and all the other extremist dipshits humanity had and has to endure. IMHO, SJW's are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
