Do these work for single man gangs? What if I have 1 miner (with the skills) and 1 hauler with no minimal mining skills?
I am trying to figure out if these are worth training before other things....

you need 2 people in your gang. The one with the skills in your squad commander position, the other just in the squad for the gang bonuses to work

Does this work then....
Gang 1:
Squad Commander: Miner (mining foreman skills)
gang member: hauler (mining 1 with no other skills)
Does Squad Commander/Miner get bonus from self or bonus from hauler's mining 1?
Sorry for so many questions.....

it doesn't matter what the second has for skills (he could have no mining skills at all) all that matters is he is in the same system(undocked) and in the squad the main is squad commander of.

Keep in mind everytime he docks you lose the bonuses.

Just time it so when the lasers cycle he's not docked - it's the only time it matters.

The last post isn't exactly accurate. If you notice your gang module turns on's and turn offs only dictate the actual cycle of the laser, but the mineral draw within that time will change based on the gang compliment.
Example:
1 miner in a BC (with a 10% cycle time bonus) and a hauler
when both are in space the draw from the miner II's look like this
60 (base) * 1.2 (mining 4) * 1.2 (astrogeo 4) * 1.1 (mining foreman 5) = 95.04 / 60sec
or 1.584 m3/sec
WITH THE GANG MODULE ON
60 (base) * 1.2 (mining 4) * 1.2 (astrogeo 4) * 1.1 (mining foreman 5) = 95.04 / 54 sec
or 1.76 m3/ sec
if the mining cycle starts and then you press the gang module 1 sec after the cycle starts the time for that cycle will be 60 sec for the entire cycle.
BUT for 1 sec you'll get 1.584 m3 and the rest of the 60 sec you'll get 1.76 m3 so that cycle while taking the full 60 sec will give you 105.424m3 and not 95.04 m3.
It also works on reverse so if the module shuts off during a cycle that is currently running you will get less then the 95.04 m3/cycle.
Tested and verified.
