A very useful article in that it helps us neophytes understand the difference in the pro-Matari factions. I wish there was one for all the different affliations and groups.

So I'm not trying to start a fight on purpose and I kinda figure this is going to get folks riled up when I'm trying to stay diplomatic and neutral. I just couldn't think of a way to make the following statement diplomatically:
Based on this line of arguement, should I assume that all the other organized spacefaring societies are better then the Amarr Empire because they are able to run an economy without slaves?

Thanks for the intelligent reply Ikar. I was a bit worried that you would take my reply wrong.
It's to bad that in the current state (Emperorless) a faster adoption of other economic practices are not in the works. I do understand that massive economic change leads to social upheaval which is something I'm sure the Amarr wish to avoid.
But I don't wish to hijack the thread anymore then we already have.
Maybe Ikar you can do something similar for the Amarr block? Be nice since mostly what I see is a lot of people yelling at each other from what I guess is past history.

Again I'm not stating a personal preference (sticking with that neutrality thing for now), but my observations and communications within the Republic pod communitity hasn't shown me that there is a whole lot of traction with a well...lack of better term...a "slave peace" that allows the continuation of the practice of slavery.
One of the things I don't understand is whether the practive of slavery in the Consulate and Empire comes from a religious background or does it come from the goverment. I do understand that it is condoned by the goverment today. I'm just curious which "side" started the practice.
I still find it hard to believe that the Amarr economy is just "different". The use of slaves, to me, shows a lack of economic advancement. The cost of an automated economy would seem to be much cheaper then one based on subjugation of sentinent beings. I'll grant that as a former child slave, I'm not exactly an economic policy prodigy. Yet if the Caldari, Gallente, Matari, and Jove can survive and propser economically without slaves it sure seems that an "Empire" would be able to as well.

I'll ask Winter when I get her on channel. I'm not sure what "our" official policy is towards everything. I'm sure she could expound on them.
