I think the problem many people here have with the goons is that the clearly most influential alliance in eve is a coterie that does not publicly recruit but requires you to be a paying member of an other website.

Lolz a meme is like a cliche it's that way because it represents the truth and in the same way as cliche's some (often those it applies to) seem to rave against it.

You then go on to try and prove it isn't true by re-enforcing all the concepts people have of you, using 'operation names' no-one outside your little circle of friends would understand then insulting those who don't understand them.

Goonswarm doesn't recruit from EVE players, we only recruit from Somethingawful, for example. We have some membercorps who recruit pubbies, but not the actual proper Goonfleet/Goonwaffe corps.

Unless you have some concrete examples of how we have become the new BoB it is just a meme. We get that pubbies like to call us the new BoB because they think we'll hurfblurf about it. The problem with that is that after we killed the original BoB there *was* a new BoB. Oh, we killled that one too.

Then there was *another* new BoB...and then we killed them again!

Now unless you are calling us "new BoB" to trick us into killing ourselves (because we always kill BoB you see) the phrase is completely meaningless.

Do you imagine that you come off as a humble, reluctant leader? From what little I have heard you are essentially decaring yourself an eve god. Telling all your pets (or whatever you call them) they either need to be in your personal favor (or words to that effect) or they are out. Telling your alliance that they need to do boring time consuming things so that you will out-bore the other side into not wanting to log in anymore. The whole communism thing is a bit overbearing don't you think?

My point was just that after bob left the numbers of large wars with large scale battles did go down substantially. Do you not agree?

Like I said I said there is allot I like about the goons. They are what they are. Same with bob. I don't see any reason to glorify or villify either alliance. I think when you start to think in real life that a whole alliance is either good or evil it is a sign that internet spaceships is becoming a bit too serious business for you.

I think Mittens constantly bringing up his beef with BOB (which has been disbanded over a year ago) and Sir Molle (does he even play anymore?) is a sign that his concerns about this game may be a bit unhealthy. But whatever I suppose if I retired I would spend more time on internet spaceships too.

Yes I agree, but that has more to do with the Dominion sov system than BOB getting kicked in the googlies. After a few months of hilarious battles in 49-, it became quite obvious, to even the densest individual, that the only way to loose sovereignty was for the defender to "not want sov anyway" or not pay the sov bill
