What was fun about Eve....
That time I talked some freshly ganked noobs into going back into lowsec to attack the same pirates, win or lose, and turned victims into fighters. The stuff coming from those noobs in fleet chat while waiting to decloak, and the horribly bad tactics still make me laugh to this day. Everybody had a good time, and the pirates even gave the noobs some ISK and advice.
Dropping into a live event incursion after following one of its actors 20 jumps gathering up a fleet. We were all using the ships we were in. Unplanned, spontaneous. My hands shook. Scores of nightmares on grid and nothing but sheer chaos.
That first time I went into a wormhole and found out how far out sleepers can hit. Or that second time with a corp, where the FC goes into the site alone with a hyperion, then silence for a bit, and then one word in fleet channel: "help".
That one time in the live events channel I said one thing and up popped all the old names from those live event incursions, the old FCs, the RPers - a surprise reunion of old friends with mirth and tales of times past. Those things don't happen much.
When myself and a few others put bubbles outside Mittanigrad (years before World War Bee) and we played cat and mouse with stealth bombers. We almost bombed each other. I was grinning so hard for so long my face cramped.
Before SoE ships, using a T1 BC fitted for exploration and having a DPS of 200 and still surviving low class wormholes and nullsec exploration sites, campers, and sleepers on pure Captain Kirkery and a lot of running away. (With a battleship sized AB)
Ganking wrecks and listening to our spies laugh over CODE. tears.
That one time I got so deep in escalations that Serpentis sent out super ships that looked like white crosses on my overview and they destroyed a ship that I had for 3.5 years (it was a BC with a large rig still in it to show its age).
Did this fun occur every day, all of the time? Of course not. But there were times I would never forget. And all of the boredom in between left no mark in my memory.
