Valkaarie wrote:Hi, i will get straight to the point.....i am currently looking for a new corp/ home ...in the recruitment channel i posted my interest for looking for a new corp i was then contacted via private chat about joining a corp in the Goonswarm Fed after interesting me with what they could offer they made me apply via goonfleet.org once i registered i was then told that i was identified as a medium risk for some unknown reason to the alliance and in order to join i had to pay 500mil to get in the corp and alliance.
Is this common practice? as i thought i was a scam at the time... does anyone else know about this?
Thanks for reading
It is an in game scam. It is allowed as long as they don't break any of the EULA or Code of Conduct rules. If the person didn't say he's "an alt of X" or "member of a clan he isn't" or "recruiter for a clan he isn't" it's ok. If you have a lot of ISK, try it out,! It's like a "Nigerian Prince want to make you very rich scam". Also if you gave your API they will probably see your alts. Like when you have a "forum alt" or an alt in "TEST ALLIANCE Please Ignore", and they will probably not ignore that...
Please note that goonfleet.org is not affiliated with CCP in any way and thus be careful when giving them any private information or API keys or sending nude pics. Do not confuse RL websites even if they refer to EVE Online with the ingame content. If you scam outside the reach of CCP, local authorities have to be bothered with it and they don't have the time. |

Selphentine wrote:Mh, i was pretty sure about that impersonate thing, but as i cant finde sources, ill just retract that statement.
In 2013 Article 8 has been updated to further clarify our rules on impersonation of other entities in EVE Online. The old text pertaining to impersonation in Article 8 contained the following:
You may not impersonate or present yourself to be a representative of CCP or an EVE Online volunteer
This has now been updated to read as follows, for further clarification of our policy on impersonation of third parties in EVE Online:
You may not impersonate or present yourself to be a representative of CCP or an EVE Online volunteer. You may not impersonate or falsely present yourself to be a representative of another player, group of players, character or NPC entity.
So yes, if I say I'm a recruiter for Goonswarm and my alt is. There is no technical difference and I'll get "the spankering" from CCP. The problem is that in RL law you need to have criminal intent to make the impersonation a crime. However in EVE online that does not have to prooven, only that person X syas he's person Y or a respresentative of such. Also they have to state that ingame. |
