I do sometimes. If I get sick of what's in my iTunes library I might turn the sound on, just so something audible is going on. I hate doing anything in silence, and my TV fell out the back of my car the other week, so I can't use that. 
I don't find it degrades performance at all.

Sound off in fleet battles. It reduces lag it seems. Don't ask me why...

I haven't heard any ingame sound since 04... Besides shutting off the awful sound pallette reduces lag...

Sound on for me - tried turning it off for a while but no noticeable performance increase so switched it back on

eve sound is messed up, I switched it off after 2 weeks. never looked back.

always on for me the day i have to turn it off to get that much of an edge on someone ill cancel my sub its all part of the immersion for me

Sound on, off when im watching tv or listening to music, the sound causes no lag to me, even in battles.

On then I lose half the sounds and have to turn it off and then on, donĘt have the music on.

The sound have always been ON since 2004 for me, since i have never seen any performance loss with the sound ON, so my sound will always stay ON.

On, most of the time other than fleet fights.
Useful for all sorts of small things. Hearing whether somebody jumped out or in to a gate, for example.
Wouldn't mind a no warp sound, gets quite hard to hear ts sometimes.

i have the sound on but i use headphones but don't wear them most of them time. i would turn the sound off but im too lazy.

Well personally i keep it on, doesn't bother the game much...and...i love the sound of lasers and artis and pew pew pew kaplow zzzzzzt!!! pewpewpew!! *whistles* BOOOOOM! Pew pew!! Zrrrrrrt! *runs around room with fingerpistols* We come in peace! "Yeah boy! But you leave in pieces!!" Pew pew PEWPEWPEW!!! KABRGORLLLG!!!!!!! BOOOOOOSHHHH!!!

Sound effects:always on.
Music:sound turned down. I'd like to stop the player playing but it keeps restarting itself :-/
It's not the best but I couldn't play without it. Generally I've always appreciated audio more than graphics (I'm the same with films).
What I'd like is for CCP to put as much effort and innovation into the audio system as they did the graphics.
P.S.Can we have an audio blog, now?

Always off since a very long time ago.
I dont know if they've changed it or not, but the warp sound was always so loud, you couldnt even hear the ppl on vent or TS anymore which was really annoying, or you turned the soundvolume so low that you could only hear the warpsound and not the other sounds. Also performance is a bit better without sound, especially in bigger fights.

When solo, sound on.
When with my corp, sound off, effects off.
There's this little thing called 'lag'. Perhaps the devs will discover and overcome it some day.

Always on. Very few of the Eve sounds got old for me (that damn gallente station background...) , even the gate activation / cloaking still feels nice. Also , the sweet lull of warp scramblers , the rythmic pulse of missiles , the mighty symphony of guns... and , most important of all , the satisfying ship explosions and rarely heard but delicious squishing of pods.
I wouldn't miss this for anything. Especially not some added framerate or "stability" ...

Everything but large scale combat.
As a fellow corpmate pointed out to me, the sound of a capsule popping is the coolest sound to hear in a game.
My pc is quite capable of handling everything but the largest battles without sound and even the pew-pew of lasers never gets boring (let alone the kablooie of artillery). Besides, in huge battles, ts/vent can be hard enough to understand without game music getting in the way

I sometimes turn it on, just to hear the sounds again. But i quickly become anoyed with the high warp sound wich u cannot turn down except if u turn everything else down.
Also get better performance when it is turned off.
