The title pretty much says it all. I'm a relatively new player who's been playing on a MacBook Air and getting a little tired of it. Between the low-res and graphic settings, the loud ass noise and the heat, I'd really like to get a computer thats capable of playing EVE on max or close to it. I started buying components for a computer build 2 years ago, and got sidetracked with life issues, so I never finished it. I'd like to use what I already have to finish it. I have a motherboard, (Gigabyte z97x-SLI) which has a LGA1150 socket. I need a CPU that can handle EVE that won't break the bank. I'm thinking around 200-250 or less if possible. I also need a Video Card. Other than that, i'm all set. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! o7

Anyway... Prepare to dunk at least 250$ on an i7. Also RAM is quite expensive and you need at least 8gb, even used (I made profit selling old ram recently lol). As for gpu, factory overclocked gtx 770 should do the trick if you want max price/performance although to make better use of your cpu I'd recommend something like 780 Ti or 970 if you find good deal.

Another option is to go nerd style and buy used server gear. You would have to hunt a bit and read your motherboard compatibility list but I'm 97,7% sure most Xeons and ECC ram should work. It could easily shave 100-200$ off your bill.


I assume that's for 1080p and not 3 monitors in 4k +streaming. Also no matter the hardware, it won't help in a big blob fight. Smaller blobs, up to few hundred should be fine.


@Recommended settings are outdated. 1gb vram was a thing in 2007 and 4gb ram barely satisfies some of today's browsers. It's good to have the option to launch a few tabs and open another app while playing eve and not worry about stability.

Eve does not require a massive amount of computing power. Any mainstream Intel or AMD chip will do the job. Your main bottleneck is your Internet connection back to the server.

If you are running multiple clients on multiple monitors at 2K or higher resolution I would recommend a midrange GPU - Nvidia 70 series is fine. My 770GTX drives 3 monitors at 2K resolution without breaking a sweat.

If you're on a tight budget an AMD A10 should work fine.

Any new build should use an M.2 SSD. Don't even think about a hard drive.

while I agree that if you build a new PC it never hurts to invest into RAM, the OP asked about specs to run 1 EVE client. EVE is a 32bit Application and can therefore only address up to 4GB of RAM anyway so for this usecase, more RAM will do absolutely nothing.

Never had any problems running EVE with 3+ clients full graphics
