Originally by: Naeldon Hi,
I'm on a trial account at the moment, and I'm thinking of becoming a full account holder. I'm trying to get to grips with as many different playing types as possible. I have two questions:
1 - What are the "aims" of business? I know that seems a ridiculous question, but I was wondering what my strengths would be. For example a miner knows he must mine, a bounty hunter knows he needs to collect bounties, a pirate knows he needs to be involved in piracy, but what does someone who took the business path do? Trade between stations? I imagine it's easier on a corporation level to answer this, but I was wondering about at the beginning of the game.
2 - How nice are people on EVE? Another daft question, I know. I've played a few multiplayer games and to be honest I am too old to be dealing with annoying kids anymore. I don't mind being ambused in game or what not, but I mean stuff like chat abuse and general friendliness? On a lot of games I have played asking a question usually was greeted with some sarcastic answer and the chat channels were full of mindless spam and any conversations you and another person were having were usually interrupted with the charming: "it's not ****ing irc" Now last night I did enjoy listening to my newbie corp chat but I was wondering what it's like full game?
I know the second question is a bit odd but I get enough abuse in real life (i'm married!). I don't need it in game. I know the old saying about "every game has its bad apples" too.. but I don't know. I just feel I need to ask. WoW scarred me.
Take care.
Eve is no different, my first week hear I meet somebody who is still abusing me for being wrong about a fact in an answer in the help channel. But the good thing about the block command is, it can hold all his alts and after awhile he will grow tired of a target that can fight back.
Infact because of this first person I almost quit, he was that abusive on a personal level, which most of the time I can ignore. Something about this person made it hard to ignore his insults, the good news is, he is a vulture without any teeth.
In other words when I find him and shoot him down faster then he can blink, he will understand why you should not be abusive to people.
