Hi guys, Currently I'm running a Maelstrom for level 4 missions, and here is my current setup:
Highs:
8 1200mm Gallium Cannon
Medium:
1 XL SB II
2 Shield Boost Amps (T1)
3 Hardeners
Lows:
2 Gyrostab II
2 Tracking Enhancer II
1 Co-Processor
Soon I'll be upgrading my guns enough to not require the co-processor anymore, but I'm wondering what should go in it's place. Additional Gyrostab or Tracking Enhancer? Sensors? Maybe even a speed mod?
What think you, forum sheep?

I'd go damage control II for that little bit of extra resistances.

I was thinking about another gyrostab but I wasn't sure if the extra 7% damage or so would be worth it or not, plus I may not have enough CPU for it. Any other ideas? Though the damage control is a good one...

1 speed mod is pretty useless, so don't go that route. You might benefit from a PDS or as the others have suggested another damage mod or DCU.

Leave the CPU, upgrade the boost amps to T2.
Otherwise, DCU II or PDS II are never a bad choice.

How are you going to sustain that XL booster for any serious amount of time anyway?

My biggest problem at the moment, unfortunately...I'll be putting a few cap control rigs on it which will help, but I don't have high hopes of being able to fully sustain the booster until i get a faction booster of some kind, which is about 580 mil down the road for me...

If you need cap a PDS will be useful.. having a coproc is such a waste tbh.. I would like to see it reasonably cap stable, maybe switch out a gyro and tracking enhancer to pds too.
Then again you could also go all out of damage and take that third gyro.. I would like to see an AB on there to keep at range while alpha-ing enemies, but AB's really cripple shield tanks eh..

Mael low slots clearly ask for 3 Gyro 1 DC II and 1 PDS II.

Why does everyone go on about 'sustaining' the booster? I use an arti fitted Mael for most L4's and hardly ever need to 'sustain' the booster. I micro manage the booster and use maybe 3 cap boosters per mission (just to to top up cap from AB drain).
Did the Blockade last night in a sniping Mael and i think i used the booster about 6 times the whole mission. In fact there are not many missions i can think of where one would have to 'sustain' the booster.
Micro manage FTW!

unless you are doing something special(tanking for a mining op comes to mind) if you dont have to micro mange your shield tank you are doing something wrong.
