Edited by: Raef on 05/01/2004 16:47:05 ok, i was out of the game a while and could have missed something, but why is the Rupture CPU only 275 when the other heavy cruisers of the other races are 300+? just frustrating, when the the heavy cruiser of the minmitar has the equivelent cpu of the medium size cruisers of the other races .. surely this has been addressed hasnt it? whats the deal here?

Yeah its a little low compared to other top end cruisers, but you just need to train some electronics skill and weapon upgrades (to level 4).
I usually dont have too many CPU problems on my Rupture.
Usually run 3x720mm, one H-50, 2 M12's loaded with defenders, as well as MWD, shield booster, appropriate hardener and a bunch of cap rechargers.
I tend to run out of power long before running out of CPU.

Edited by: Jim Raynor on 05/01/2004 17:09:48 projectile weapons have pretty low cpu requirements no? i mean moa has pretty high cpu for a cruiser, but hybrids use up the most cpu of any weapon, so perhaps it's not as bad as you think. ------

It's not weapons that make minmatar pilots start wishing for an Intel Pentium MMMCCLXXXIV.
It's the modules.

When a Pneumatic gyro takes 40tf (and Weapons Upgrades doesn't affect damage enhancers again), daisy-chaining those with other modules soaks cpu faster than 4 turrets.
I've always been maxing cpu and using cpu enhancers before nearing the powergrid. That's one of the balancers for Minmatar ships: we seem to be stuck with 386s

Projectiles require less CPU, so u dont need as much. also, the ship is an old warhorse and from the way it looks, do u think its at the top of the CPU ladder?

i was just curious .. atm i run 3x720 and 3 launchers or 2x720/2x650 and 2 launchers, but always wanted to run 4x720 like the moa can run 4x 250 .. im elec4/eng4/weapon upgrade4, and im always maxing both pow and cpu .. course i also dont like to run without 2 ab's/1xshield/1xgyro/1xWarpStab/and a couple pow diags for the xtra cap/shield stuff .. pretty loaded down .. overall i love the ship, just seemed under cpu'd compared to the others .. one of the reasons i mine with my stabber, more cpu .. would like to upgrade to a rupture to mine, but just cant fit the same setup cause of lack of cpu...

Thats a pretty good setup Raef.
However I think you're wasting 2 med slots by having 2 afterburners on there, especially only having 3 med slots total.
I was at a 45k spawn there other day (angel anihilator) and the only think that saved my ass was having an MWD when the pirate warped right up to me. I was able to open up the range a bit again.

With 720s only, yah he should have a MWD only.
My Rupture is setup with overlapping kill zones (720mm + 2 425mm + Drones/missiles). So I have both. MWD to close/flee and AB to orbit at 11km. Reduces damage pretty well.

The relatively high H-50 grid and cpu requirement is a bit tough too. I sometimes would downgrade an H-50 to an M-12 just to fit a few things.
I got four named 650s, a named M12 and a named H-50 in my Rupture, though I have not used it for a while. I plan to do something soon though.
It's a great ship for solo hunting in the "middle territory" which is 0.4 to 0.1 and the occasional 0.0 system still in Empire space.

Edited by: Raeff on 06/01/2004 07:16:35 ya, having the only long range got old, so i made some changes tonight .. 2x 720/2x 425/2x launchers/1x medium booster/1x shield booster enhancer/1x ab(or mwd.. did both)/1x nanofiber/2x dam mods/2x pow diags(for the cap/shield) .. seems pretty good, but still adjusting it for best performance .. considering trying 2x 650/2x 425 and see what other goodies i can fit on there...

Haven't tried a Rupture, but I'd suggest Engineering 5 and Electronics 5 on any ship. Add in Weapon Upgrades 5 (a bit excessive, I know) and you'd be amazed what you can cram into a ship.
In theory you COULD mount the following on a Rupture, but it would take Weapon Upgrades 5 (or Weapon Upgrades 4 and looted guns), Electronics 5 and Engineering 5:
4x 720mm howitzer 2x H-50 launcher Medium Clarity Ward shield booster 10 MN MWD EM hardener (or a tracking computer) projectile damage booster of your choice 4x reactor control
Or use 650mm artillery instead of the 720s and save room for a warp core stabilizer or two...

Electronics level 5 sorts it out... TBH, Electronics, Mechanic and the power one (engineering?) are amongst the few skills in Eve worth training to level 5... -------------------------------------------- Dead

It's named a Rupture for a reason. Might as well be called a Ganks Easy.

I finally dusted off my Rupture after having not used it for months, thanks to the inspiration in this thread there. I got a whole bunch of loot stuff, including named trackers, 650s (including Scouts, Sieges, Carbines and Gallums), H-50s (2300s, Malkuths, Limos), gyrostabilizers, power diags and relays. Putting them all into my reconfigured Rupture and wow, it seems like a ship reborn again.
Quickly annihilated some NPCs with strong solid hits from 650s. Been flying a bs these days, but I tell you, the speed, fighter like maneuverability and the quick locking of a Rupture is a pure joy and a relief to use.
