Thanatos can tank well enough to survive, if thats what you are meaning. Not that much ever gets through your shields anyway. Another plus point of the Thanatos is that it can hold more fighters (20) than the Archon (16), Chimera (16) and Nighoggur (18).
A negative point of the Archon is its lack of Mid-slots. Ideally you want either two sensor boosters or a sensor booster and a warp disruptor. Loosing 2 Cap Rechargers to fit these kinda hurts the Archon more than it does the Thanatos or Nidhoggur.
I say this every time this topic comes up, but It doesn't really matter which one you pick, They all tank well enough to survive most fights, they can all use fighters, they can all use Capital Logistics of some kind. Just pick whichever benefits your favorite BS the most, or whichever you think looks the coolest.

Thats one idea I had in the past but never tried.
