We have been in on epoint or another, or even every day, faced with the need to travel say 30+ jumps do to having to take X or Y thing along with us. What I'm suggesting is a new type of station or "Super Jump Gate" in the center of each empire. said super gate would be like a station, where you dock and select a system to go to, to a limit of say 35 or so jumps from it and pay a fee to be transported to it, this would also work as a money buffer limiting the amount of isk actually in existance and helping traders move faster. also it can be considered as a great military strategy tool as the empires would be able to move their entire fleets to their borders with ease. also we all know that the separate system arent actually separated by space but are clsutered so that this idea is not rendered imposible by the system. just a small suggestion :)

Space is only big because you have to travel through it, instant teleportation nullifies that. So I'd have to say no please. -----

there would only be 4 suchb platform and this also serves as a money buffer and could be vastly restricted.

Only as long as it costs isk to use it. Lets say based on the unpacked size of the ship you are trying to take somewhere thru it. And perhaps max shipsize limit also so that say ... ummm freighters ... could not use it (or if they do that this jumps price would be something they feel .. like 100+ mil for freighter).
Otherwise it would make empire a bit too small.
In general good idea for 'isk sink', if not isk sink then not that good idea (we already have jump clones).

what haffrage said,
the perception of space being vast is VERY VERY important to eve.

The idea is for it to be a "ISK Sink" and not for it to be cheap, prices ranging from size and ship class to distance of jump and the jumps limited, that way single players wont be so eager to use it but alliances or corps that specialize in moving stuff can do so faster, and wars can be fought between alliances or corps that would ussually be so far apart that tehy would never fight each otherwise.

No way. Even capitals have too long jump range that makes it too easy. Space is already too small cause of em. Yes i have carrier.
No yyber jump gates and lower capitals jump range. It woud make game more interesting. Titan shoud not allow to move fraighters with jump drive. I remeber time in Omist where we moved that damn fraighter 45 jumps. It was really dangerous and fun.
CCP has made it too easy to move stuff in EVE. TOO EASY!!!! nerf nerf

I would like to see the new linked jump structures be able to be placed inside the shield, but access to be controlled by pos standings. That way a player could set up a pair of jump stations and sell access to there jump gate.
You warp up, if the pos doesn't obliterate you because of a war or bad standing... then you can click on the beacon or something and select jump, up pops a box asking for you to confirm the ISK transfer to the pos owner. Bink you pay and you load at the other pos stations. I think it would also have to have some kinda check to make sure you are non KOS at both ends.
I could see someone making a death-star at one end and a friendly pos at the other. you warp up pay, jump get killed, not fun.
This would make a economy of building jump routes that bypass gate camps and such, it would be even cooler if you have a high enough standing with the pos owner that the pos guns would defend you at each end if you are attacked. like concord.
It would make more options for infrastructure development.

Edited by: Ovno ConSyquence on 18/05/2007 08:05:10 Don't agree with the op but, rentable jump poses would be a great idea, i could see eventually a whole player run, alternative gate system developing.
Sounds exactly like the sort of player driven thing that eve is about.... |
