I¦d like to announce to you the grand opening of Auroras new public website.
It includes, among other things, an explanation of who we are, what we do and generally answers all the questions you would like answered (and in case it does not it tells you who to mail with additional questions).
It also has a nifty event calender which gives you a rough estimate of what events we ran and when. Adding an event to that calender is the decision of each producer running it so its not a complete list.
And apart from all that it has the best damn design in the whole internet.
I¦d like to thank all my volunteers who worked on it, they did an amazing job and i¦m sure you¦ll agree when you take a look at it.

The new site looks awesome. Now it will be much easier to find and participate in events. It's things like this that have kept me interested in this game. Keep up the outstanding work.

Ok I see the purty calender and mouse hover tells me the name of the Event, but where do I find the location, time and discription of the event?

Sorry about the confusion, but the event calendar is not intended to inform you about future events.
The events listed there are executed events only!

Could the events be described more precisely on the calendar ? "June 11 : Federation Customs Patrolling" That's short ! What about "Federation customs patrolling. 25 ships in the patroll from X to Y, 12 tons of contraband seized at Aunia. Securisation of the Z lowsec system and arrest of ABC guy" ?

Answer: No. We chose to keep the information limited and we have no intention to change this any time soon.

mmh, 14, 15 an 17 of June are really limited... Do you fear to have more people joining the events and not being able to handle them ?

The event calender is of past events so the threat of people learning of the event before hand and rushing to the system isnt there. The producer chooses what information is released because they know what is relevant to that event or story Arc. In some cases putting extra information into the calender would be fine but in others it could spoil a future event as that information was only intended for the people that participated in said event.

Excuse me but, what's the point?
If these events are all over and done with, and you're only informing us after the fact, what good is it?
How about telling us about events before the fact, so maybe we can participate? Now that would have some value. This is an utter waste of bandwidth.

We really do not want to get into a discussion about this. The reasons we do not give information about upcoming events have been explained on several occasions. We beleive them to be very valid.
The reason we provide the information about past events is to show you just how many events are run. Thats it, nothing more and nothing less.
If you like to know more, then maybe trying to get in touch with the people who participated in the events would be a better way to gain knowledge.

And how do we know when events happen? I've spent a lot of time in empire, cruising around and I've never stumbled on any event or anything that might look like an event... And even if I did, I never noticed it! I've read about these ghost events all on the forums, but its really hard for us to seek information about events when we don't even know where they were held / what they implied (even a BARE minimum) and how you know that you stumbled on an event when you actually do. Telling us that the events are not disclosed but to look for them is like giving us a shovel and boat but no map to just find the island we should dig on to get the treasure...

Realizing you do not wish to discuss it again could you provide a link to where these reasons are stated?

Ok, i'll inform you once more why we cannot give information regarding events up front.(cause i'm to lazy to search for the posts... )
Please bare in mind that these reasons are not open for discussion. It's decided a long time ago by Aurora leadership to not disclose information and we stick with the rule.
We beleive that when we give information about events we endanger the event for several reasons. First: The risk of the event being overloaded with player participation. Imagine this: we post information about an upcoming event and local spikes up to >Jita numbers when the events starts... Surely you can imagine that with such numbers its almost impossible to run the event.
Second: How can it be RP wise explained that you all know when an event is happening? Imagine this: A smuggler is carrying contraband through high sec empire space and the local authorities ask help with his capture. In my opinion, from a RP perspective there is no logical explanation why people would know that there would be a smuggler run at that particular time and place.
Third: Protection of the event team. Unfortunately, there are players who are not interested in the RP perspective of the game and as we still respect them as players, some of them like to gank the event actors just because they can and because they think the loot is worth it.(trust me, its not) Imagine: An event team undocks from a station and starts the RP. Within one minute they are ganked by a 25 pilot gank squad just because they can... END EVENT!
There are more reasons why we cannot and therefor will not give information about upcoming events. I hope you understand why we don't. We would like nothing more then seeing 100+ pilots participating in our events. Beleive me, we would love that.
So, as we understand that it's very hard to find out about events up front or even close to impossible, it is as it is.
If you like to increase your chances to find an event, we suggest you join the RP channels ingame and always keep an eye on local. If you see teal text, it's an event. To find out more about past events, i would check out our website here and check out what events have been executed. Then you start a post asking your fellow players who was in the event and if they are willing to share information.
Hopefully this will help you to get closer to the immerion. We will try whatever we can to bring you more and more events. However,we are a small group amongst a huge playerbase. If you like to see more events happening, then the application form can be found here

All good answers, sounds like you guys need a lot more volunteers and a little more server support. While I agree on all fronts it would be nice, even just once every month or two, to host a large event. Obviously something that would make sense to have announced via news channels, or even IC posts in the events channel, sadly I doubt even the procedures CCP use to try to support massive fleet battles they know of in advance probably wouldn't handle the load.
I suppose the only realistic option would be to increase the number of events to the point where people see them more often, I may try to aid that cause myself once my real life settles down by applying myself.
In any case thanks much for your reply.
