I thoght about training up the various leadership skills to make me more useful in gangs, so far I've just trained skirmish to level 3 but it's had no effect on gang member (in space / same system). Am I missiong something - do I need the actual warfare implants or to be in a command ship?
Any advice gratefully received

Edited by: Mike Yagon on 17/05/2007 08:41:19 For leadership skills to apply you need to be either Squad, Wing or Fleet commander and the gang must be converted to a fleet for this.
You need the skill Leadership for Squad commander, where Leadership level * 2 is the amount of people in your squad that get the bonus.
Wing Commander and Fleet Commander skills work along the same principe, except they enable squads or entire wings to get the bonuses.
Edit - More information! The 5 basic skills, Skirmish-, Siege-, Armored- and Information warfare, as well as Mining Foreman do not require warfare link modules to apply to the gang.
The 5 specialist skills, Skirmish Warfare- Siege Warfare, Armored Warfare- and Information Warfare Specialist enable you to use the warfare link modules, but these skills only improve the quality of your warfare link module.
A more detailed forum thread about the total effect of warfare link modules can be found here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=209094

Thanks, that's pretty comprehensive.
I'll go away and look things in a bit more detail - as you may guess I'm just dabbling atm and have other priorities right now if this is going to require a significant lump of training time.

A question on the mining skills : I have plenty of leadership skills and im thinking about getting Mining Foreman/Director to use some of the Mining-Gangmods in Corp Ops. But i cant find any Mining-Mindlinks in the Market, although there seem to be some few available within contracts. Where can "Mining Foreman Mindlinks" be aquired? Are they some sort of giveaways from Missions/Cosmos/Complexes/Whatever,or is this just a bug in database that they arent on market? Would be grateful if someone could clarify this

not sure but i think for your gangmembers to get the benefits also the person with the leadershipskills needs to be the squad commander not the wing or fleetcommander, unless ccp changed that without telling?
if ur wing or fleetcommander only u get the boni and perhaps all the fleet/squadcommanders, for the squad member to get any boni the squad commander must have leadershipskills also.
Gonna try this out but i'm pretty sure this is how it worked. CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

The way the gang skills function: Gang skills are only given by: squad leaders to member of their squad (including themselves) Wing commanders to every member in their wing except the squad comanders (including themselves) Fleet Comanders to every member in their fleet except the wing comanders and squad comanders (including themselves)
Little issues that arise though: 1) the gang must be converted to a fleet 2) the squad leader must have a leadership skill large enough to handle the number of people in his/her squad 3) wing commander must have enough skill to lead the number of wings under his/her command 4) fleet comander must be able to handle the number of wing comanders based on his/her skill
For small gangs or corp ops wing command 3 and 3 squad leaders should be plenty to create a mining or fighting crew. Wing comander is the guy with the mining director skill The best miners are always formed in the squads and not the squad leader If you are mining into a POS in the same system then haulers make the best squad leaders (given they have leadership 4 or 5) If your mining into a station then it's a good idea to make the tank the squad comander
There are tons of ways to set it up, but if your running a 15 person op I recommend 2 groups. Group 1 is the mining group has the squad comander and 10 mining people going at it. Group 2 is the hauling/tanking group they handle the rats and moving ore.

You right click on "Gang" in the overview and select "Convert to fleet".
We're sorry, something happened.
