Somehow this thread appears to me as a whine thread by pirates who just want to kill freighters easily rather than be forced to suicide gank them in empire. As I see it any freighter that enters low sec undefended and encounters a pirate camp or even just 1 experienced pirate in a BC or BS is screwed given the pilot doesn't log first.
Having freighters in low sec could work if they allow freighters to at least be able to defend themselves from all the weak pirates who just want to kill, kill, kill, without any effort. Something like being immune from scramming.
Lets be real though, how will people move ships and other trade goods around in empire if the freighter is removed from high sec? Corps that make a living selling Battleships and other large trade commodities will suffer the most. While the cheap pirates get all the fun. Too one sided in my view.

Please elaborate on that. Sure, people will not be able to deliver battleships all over empire space. Instead that trade will enter low sec, where it is vulnerable, but where it is a LOT easier to defend. All of the problems you have defending freighters in high sec disappear in low sec. Trade hubs will appear.
If you want to purchase a BS in high sec you will simply have to move a few jumps, and not everyone will go to Jita. <--- Another pro if you ask me.

Yes, people will be forced to sell things in low sec, but all it does is make pirates lives all too easy. Carebears still won't be able to defend their freighters in low sec so I don't see how that fixes their problem. Most industrial corps don't have the manpower or the skills to defend a freighter in low sec. And pirates will finally be able to have hundreds of targets in low sec that can't fight back. Imagine how happy all the pirates would be hehe!
I say the current system where a select few of the total carebear population will have their freighter ganked in high sec is balanced. If the devs plan on changing that then I'm on your side since that will make them totally invulnerable. But there must be a different way than banning freighters from high sec all together.
Your plan will make freighters 90-100% vulnerable to any kind of pirate force as opposed to the few now. And if by a long shot they do make freighters low sec only then they should also remove the EW immunity that motherships have and give the freighters some way to fight back or escape just to show they want to have some balance between pirates and carebears. Or maybe make another industrial that can atleast carry 2 BS's in their hold so empire trade doesn't go bad if freighters are gone.

Why, please tell me, would a corporation that CANNOT or WILL NOT defend their freighter aquire one, and then deserve the sympathy of the EvE community for losing it? Don't fly what you cannot afford to lose should probably be expanded to don't fly what you cannot afford to lose and cannot defend.
There are possibilities for carebears in this proposal too. I hope you will be able to see through it and catch those possibilities, and what it can do for the good of EvE.

I see the possibility of me and a few friends in BC's being able to take out a freighter that was careless to enter low sec with inadequate protection easily in your plan.
But I also see all the new whine threads of carebears complaining about it.
I'm all for trade in low sec since I won't have to haul ships 20+ jumps into a popular hub and can just sell them in the low sec system where I work but still I think your plan will make freighters useless and very rare to non-alliance corps. Small carebear corps that supply a lot of the empire trade will stop buying and using them and go back to the old way of hauling ships 1 by 1. Only the big alliances that can escort their freighter in reasonably sized blobs will use them. And that will still make the pirates angry since now they can't gank them unless they can field an equal blob to take out the freighter and its escorts. Not a lot of low sec pirate corps can do that.
I don't see your plan as a balanced solution. Would make me and some pirate peeps happy for a short time but that's about it. I will wait and see what the devs decide to do about it before making anymore assumptions or comments regarding the matter.

This is completely correct, which is why it is essential that there be some reasonable method of attcking freighters piloted by those who hide in NPC corps to move stuff for their alliance.
We can either "nerf" freighters or "nerf" NPC corps. Personally, I favour the latter, but that would affect a lot more people than the former.
The man knows what he's talking about!
Signed! NERF NPC corps will put some balance and much needed fun for both sides.
