A lot of effort seems to be going into "Eve Voice" I would be curious to know what percentage of players are using it. |

In relation to Eve voice, I have been using it for awhile now, it works well at present but not many ppl are on so that may change when the number of users increases. Much easier to hook up with ppl, no Ts servers to connect to, easy to change/switch between channels.
Ppl are slow to change habits though, and Ts still seems the preferred method even though to me Eve Voice seems a much easier way of communicating with large numbers.

great to see ccp but in a other note not good do us aussies get a rebate for time lost in our time of playing as no other timezone shares the roles of downtime i like how you guys are on the ball with trying to fix the game but in unfair to people in my timezone that have to cop extended downtimes and ones that are not given any notice to players all im asking for is something fair here as this starting to be a bit of a joke ATT: iam a ex Battle Fields 2 player and in game voice makes the severs go laggy in a bad way so i my experience you would be best to drop it.

FIX LAG first, then do anything else...
Everyone suffers from terrible lag, but CCP is introducing in-base walking and new high-polygon models.
I wonder - does anyone of CCP techi ever read the forums? -------------------------------------------------- Listen up! "Teamwork" means staying out of my way! |

As it has been stated numerous times before, different groups work on different aspects of eve. New content will not be working on current lag (except for optimizing code maybe), art works on art, web staff work on web stuff etc.
CCP are constantly working on lag, there have been quite a few blogs about it over the past few months.

Is it just me or are a few things missing from those patch notes?
I guess with all the revelations goodies wehave ahd so far I'm getting a little greedy. But please please please put in more, even if it has to involve the saving of a damsel in distress.

I know this will come off snarky but it honestly is not meant to. When I read the patch notes I have to say I was let down due to the number of things that need to be fixed (if you were just to count the stuff broken by recent patches) and are still not finding mention in any upcoming patches.
While I do not use Eve Voice I figure little CCP dev time went into it since I think you said nearly all of it is being done by the company doing the hosting (Viaox?). That just leaves 2 entries from CCP.
While I always love hearing about exploit fixes and they should always be at the top of a fix list, only the vague mention of overview enhancements\bug fixes makes what is left in the patch notes feel even weaker. I would love some detailed information on what you hope is being fixed on the overview by this patch. Honestly I can not tell most times what is buggy and what is just poor implementation when it comes to the overview. It is a frustrating interface even when you strip out most of the information and set up filters for damn near everything.
Can you also give us any idea when some of the most griped about bugs will be addressed? Not lag but stuff like the camera reset, drone issues and the like.
On a side note have we ever received the name of the dev that was hired just to work on drones? It was asked for in several threads and I never heard what happened to that person. Is he no longer there? Moved to a different assignment? Wearing a gimp suit and chained in the basement? Taken by aliens and is receiving T2 enhancements for the job? Anything at all? Bueller? Bueller?
While I know this patch is probably sparse in an effort to get the exploits fixed and can fully understand that need, the lite scope of the patch left me feeling very deflated. More information on existing issues really need to be presented to the community.
I am frequently left with a let down feeling as I listen to upcoming additions with rarely even a nod to existing issues outside of the lag problem. This is not me screaming "Fix first, content later!!!" and such, I understand how the work is divided. I would just dearly love more information from that group.
As much as I love hearing about the new stuff the minor annoying issues add up. Enough ant bites, no matter how small, move from irratating to down right painful.

I agree there's a disturbing lack of bugfixes in there. My only suggestion is something I say every time there's a patch: please fix the thing where you change channel and type and it types in the old channel and not the one you brought to the front... I hate having to click in the cursor box every time, and sometimes I forget and send a message to the wrong chan =( it's such a small thing, it should take 2 minutes for someone to fix :( but no one ever does =/
Ok that's my whine for this patch done. See you next patch. Gnight all o/

I find it hard to believe there will be a patch that addresses voice comms and little else. I'm a bit frustrated and honestly think it could wait. I've never complained about eve before now and generally role with it, but this is really unexciting and really leaves us with nothing to look forward to.

Not even a fix to the wreck/salvage issue you broke in teh last patch?
2 patches ago you finally had it right; wrecks only appeared when there was salvage, cans otherwise. But the last "fix" broke all that again.
Unless all those wrecks were supposed to have salvage, in which case your drop tables are foobarred again. I find it somewhat disappointing that I get more salvage running a 1/10 complex than I do running multiple level 3s in an evening.
Just ran a Pirate Blockade a couple of hours ago: Total of 5 salvage in the whole thing but every single ship left a wreck Ran a 1/10 complex (.8 space) in a frigate and got 80. So much for redoing missions with "need for speed".
At least I'm getting BS-sized loot from BSs instead of civilian chield boosters <-----------> Factional Warefare:

Don't moan about things not getting top priority.
I somehow don't believe that somewhere in the eve office theres a board of priorities with 'drones, UI bugs and sundry things everyon whines about' at the bottom and 'minor issues no-one cares about' written above it in huge red letters.
Different developers work on different aspects of the game, and things get patched into the game as the get fixed, which is a fairly rational way to work when you think about it.
There will be people working on everyone's pet hate, and i trust that the devs are making progress, because thats what they are payed to do.
Oh and Eve-Voice is an awesome concept if you stop to think about that too. When it becomes more widely used, it'll be THE tool for fleet command, and you know it. So shhhh.

They should make eve- voice corp/alliance based and allow the cost too be spread amongst the members...... thats what having a TS or vent server means if u rent one u can usually use pay-pal too spread the cost amongst those members who can afford too pay..... if a member has there own server and a good internet connection then they can host the TS/VENT for free (other than the cost of the electricity etc....)
Eve voice pro's ---- no players will have access too your ip address's etc.... security is automatic in that if u are in a gang and u chat in gang then only the gang, squad or wing will hear u..... If u talk in alliance ..... alliance members will hear u....
I like the concept but i was the only one in my corp that even tried the trial as such i was talking too myself.... there are a lot of players that are Students and students would rather pay for an extra account a month or more beer than a voice program....
Overall eve-voice nice idea but payment needs rethinking..... per member overall i don't believe will take off.... while vent and TS can be got and set-up for free by one or two individuals but used by many more.
Alliance management tools and more things at alliance lvl like alliance hangers is what are needed....

Can anyone explain why http://myeve.eve-online.com/mb/patchnotes.asp has not been updated since the second Red Moon Rising patch (3805)? Maybe, just maybe, it would be useful for people on Singularity if they could bring up that page on the in-game browser and quickly scan the latest list of fixes. If it's never going to be updated, why the heck is there a link on the main IGB page for Patch Notes in the first place?
Just curious.

I had thought to complain about this being another wasted to force the player base to use something they don't want to use,not because it doesn't work. but because it is redundant. then it occurred to me that my time could be better spent looking for another game.

Here's the problem with EvE Voice as I see it:
It currently requires in-game sound to be enabled and uses the build-in sound engine, correct? How long has it been a known issue that the in-game sound engine causes massive lag except to some sound cards? Out of all the people I play with, I know only a small handful that actually play with sound enabled. If you want EvE Voice to be more than a pretty toy that very few use, you need to fix the sound engine first. I don't know stats on anyone else's machines, but if I enable sound on mine (granted, it is old...2GHz AMD XP w/ 512MB of RAM, onboard AC'97 soundcard, GeForce FX 5500 256MB vidcard) it cuts the FPS in half at best, and freezes the game quite frequently. I haven't played EvE with sound for at least the last year, and I've only been a subscriber a bit longer than that.

I just had a troublism though. This isn't a patch for EVE voice, this a patch of a bunch of stealth "fixes" that will really screw the game up for weeks. We just be won't be able to see what caused it!
sorry but I don't give a crap about eve voice. I just would like to have lag / bug free game paly.
Fix what you have already broke before you break more.
If the expolits are the ones you are fixing are the same ones that the big alliances are useing...BAN THEM!! Don't pu8nish the little guys please. PROMISES MADE > PROMISES KEPT SO SAY WE ALL |
