As to EVE voice and percentages, there is a percentage of us using non MS operating systems that have no EVE voice, even though we have better sound (no fps loss with it on) than our windows compatriots. (via cedega. wine still has some latency, but even it doesn't have the fps "loss" issues experienced by some sound cards under XP.)
As soon as EVE voice is "on" under nix/mac, corp and local channels are lost, or EVE just crashes.
Doesn't bother me personally as our alliance uses vent, and our own corp has a TS server up for side chat or meetings.
It would be nice to be on the same step of the ladder as everyone else client wise, especially as CCP has indicated that support for these clients is "there".
--speakin' o' which, Magnus talks about linux/mac clients to the press in a "few weeks".......what, a coupla' months ago? It would also be nice to know the specifics on that front.

another thing TS/Vent has over EVE Voice is that u can tell ppl u have crashed/dropped b/c those don't die when EVE dies, and that is something that can never be fixed unless you run EVE Voice separate from the EVE client.

Not many as far as I know. I wish they would have taken the programming assets and used them to fix the many problems and gameplay balance issues instead of tacking on more "Features" that arent really needed.

kieron: The 32271 version running on the test server has a bunch of very annoying UI bugs: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=522440
In addition it has a lot of new stuff, but I doubt that any of it is meant for TQ yet, so it probably wont be activated by the patch script :-) ----- http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online ----- Top wishes: - No daily downtime - Faster training on sisi - Updated data export - Speedup IGB table rendering |

Why is this patch fixing so few things? The Known Issues page for the Revelations 1.4.2 patch lists loads of items.
Then as usual once 1.4.3 is out, the Known Issues page gets wiped out and we never know if the issues reported in the past are ever fixed!

It's good to try to get into the latest, but voice is not something that EVE really needs. Several free voice service providers are in the internet and it doesn't look like we -EVE citizens- are gasping to have our voice heard by others. Maybe when coordinating a big fleet or gang it comes useful, but not in everyday chores.
I, like most here, think that EVE voice will eventually come to be important, but not for the time being.
I'll be surprised if the system doesn't lag and very very annoyed if it does. Actually I feel that after the "need for speed" patch, the game is slower. Anyone else has noticed this?
Lag is a big issue in EVE. Our multi million investment can be shoot to pieces and that because of lag, which I agree is not only at EVE servers, but in the net as a whole. So why invest so much time and re$ource$ to implement 'voice'?
If drone is a speciality, then please I'd like to see drone issues like real grouping management, 'F' keys to activate/deactivate drone facilities just to name two, so it works as any other weapon that with one simple key it comes to life. Of course to make them obey the ship's captain is basic, but that is being taken care of, I suppose.
Anyway, I hope to be happy about EVE voice and not annoyed by EVE lagvoice.
To have the latest is not necessarily essential and like EVE skills, we EVE citizens take a lot of time to achieve perfection in a given speciality, so I hope those who are about to implement EVE voice did all their basic skills in the subject too, just as we do with ours.

IF this means I have to redo ALL my !%&/ń Overview settings, YET AGAIN, someone important will BE HURT.
IF you are about to MUCK ABOUT with them every patch (whether in the notes or not), then please at least make sure ALL TYPES are available. Several types of NPC's for example, are not. Etc.
Yes, there was a time when we didn't even have an overview at all, I remember that. Now we have one, I'm thankful, but MAKE IT WORK, and KEEP IT LIKE THAT. THEN fix lag. Fix Voice at #100.
Play EVE less, code and develop more please...

Dear CCP, please just add some valuable loot (risk vs reward) on hidden unknown sites. It's not really hard, take existing NPC (faction), rename, add to scenario. We have found Sansha Provincial HQ with a small DD building 20k damage, but as we know same plex was done at 16.05.07 and loot inside was:
Quote: The loot......100 Defender missiles and 100 Dragon FOF missiles. This makes Puppys cry :(

And for M2CW.....
Firstly, and please correct me if I'm wrong - but I felt sure we had already have 1.4.3 and 1.4.4 - isn't this 1.4.5 and a typo?
Secondly - I'm one of those that would like to use EVE-Voice...
However, with only a 6mth old PC and a stable EVE for months - it started crashing on me after the last patch. After disabling it, I am now ever more convinced it's EVE-Sound and especially with the Vivox s/w now shoe-horned into it.
I tried the trial and EVE-Voice didn't work then - now all sound in EVE is barred to me.
It's not working - perhaps this and subsequent patches may actually help - I kinda miss the sounds......

One of the deb blogs states that they dont really do the work on eve voice. the company who makes it does all the work on getting it functioning with Eve, so they arent blowing off other stuff ot make it work, someone else is doing it for them.
You want to see a game with bugs and no support, go play Archlord. Half the characters skills dont work, and the big patch that was supposed to be out in January still isnt out.

I too have to trun off all eve-sound unless I want to crash every 10 to 15 minutes!! So I couldn't use Eve-voice even if I wanted to, which I don't.

Who wants to pay for Eve-voice when there are free options out there?
Another example of CCP rushing through a feature (that nets them more money) at the expense of other fixes/features. Yes, another company may well be doing the programming for it, but can the client really cope with it at the moment when we have crap sound, laggy play etc???
I won't be using it. /signed

I wonder why people are so incredibly angry about this little fix-patch.
First of all, as stated MANY times in this thread, the Vivox client is "fixed" by the company that owns it. So no CCP people really involved there.
Secondly, WE HAVE A BIG FREAKING PATCH (Revelations 2.0) comming up which pretty much uses all the resources at CCP they can muster for it.
Tip : go read DEV blogs and listen to the 1 hour live Devblog to get a good idea what really is done at the moment instead of filing your complaints without much support for them.
Yeah, i know there are bugs in EVE, but ever played World of Warcraft? half the client is a bug in my opinion.
and for those that threaten with leaving EVE, it is your money and your choice to play whichever game you wish to play. But don't bother us with your troubles to let go of the best MMO out there.
Yours sincerely, Borg 5105

Without Eve-Voice you're the captain of your own horribly be-weaponed spaceship.
With it your just a 16 year old kid screaming about the size of your cannon... the 'Leeroy' video comes to mind.
Can't see it taking/floating off

i can's speak for the others here but for me, the reason iam so erked is that once again CCp implements somethign that has realy no importance or prioraty to the current bugs in eve. For instance, my corp political screen is all bug to hell. you ever tried to to find a al line to bring a vote into effect wehn u have to go though hundreds of lines.
Or
In order to try to keep ur hangers and assests safe from corp theifs you have to rstict those that have proven themselves.
or many of the other ors that we ahve been asking abd writing about fro such a long time.
I realy do think that before CCP moves on to sioemthign new..such as EVE voice the previous stuff needs to be delivered as prmosied
my two cents...
now granted. i love eve. i think ti is the best and most interactive game out today but becuase of that when promised something it needs to be delviered...or just dont promise it at all.

There are alot whining whine-ologists going on about the patch. How many times do you have to be told that that ViVox issues are handled by a separate team? And it seems to me that the Exploits are a huge issues, DS Works hard to get them noticed, I put exploits that could hurt me as a player more important the regular Game-play related issues, though any fixes to the UI are greatly appreciated. Still I can't help but agree with others that the Patch notes were a little "thin".
On the Subject of Eve Voice. Those who who complain about it remind me ostriches with their heads stuck in the sand. Voice enable game are the way to go. if you don't have that feature your game is not cutting edge. Newer player coming from other games will expect such a feature and not have to rely on an out of game method for Comms. Sure TS and Vent are Nice, but our Corp relys in TS Extensivly and when it goes down theres always a a scambe for a backup, then notifying all the Corp members the new TS. What a pain!
During one of these period many of us switched to the Eve-Voice and you know waht it was not that bad. Quality was a little better than TS and a little worse than Vent. Key mapping are a pain but mapping talk to SHIFT-SHIFT was doa ble. Not having to run Eve in a Window so you could see who Chatting is a definte plus. My Gripes-- Xtra fee. that will kill the usefulness of this as waht makes Voice so succesful is that its already included in the game price. no extra fee no extra activation it "just works" and is always avaialble.
Key mapppings are kinda screwy (the Middle Mouse button has never worked for me)
I miss not being able to use the Game voice controller to control Comms (TS does this nicely) But that Controller Support in Eve has always been lack. (Support for my Strat Commander would be nice....)
Oh no I've started Whining....Its infectious somebody heeeelp!

Well, I think like this... Why to pay a one more service in-game, that get me a plus to the buetyfull lag that I have it (allready anticipating in the real-life what I must to do when I'm in on the road, it is allready a Pavlov's system this lag...) when I have two (2) different FREE systems that does what it must to do: communicate with other players (TS and Vent)???... Com'on, this is a little "don't care, they must to pay...".
Ok. Conclusion: I don't care about the in-game voice system. I will not use it. I don't find that very usefull. I have TS and Vent. I will use this two only.

I am thankful for this small patch if Quote: Changes to the Overview coding have been made in an effort to resolve overview display issues.
Fixes the screen creation lag.
Ita amazing they can use Python in the first place. They should move up and embrace php. The object to internet packet must be horrendous. Tell us what you changed. I am interested.
Maybe have an option to remove the overview to speed up the client.

Originally by: Prometheus Titan I wonder why people are so incredibly angry about this little fix-patch.
Because those small things that got broken by several previous patches add up to an incredibly large source of annoyance and consequently anger. Go figure, eh??
What I don't understand is why voice is being patched in its current implementation when itĘs very clear that it won't be used en mass unless an OOG client is released.
And why even bother fixing the mid button to talk when the whole thing should work like TS and let the user do the button assignments? ...
