just thought i would put a little story in here for you, enjoy 
Im not usualy a pirate as i hardly fly low sec, and i wont usually exploit people. im usually just looking for a good spa with other PVPers. Last week i was travelling through low sec in a shuttle and i spied a freighter on a gate with a -10 sec command ship pilot. I decided to go back through the gate and check it out.
I had herd of pilots using their freighter alts to "bait" pirates, but i didnt really think anyone would be stupid enough to actually do this. As i watched on, in a 500m orbit around the gate, as few more commands showed up to attack the freighter. Suddenly a chimera decloaks off the gate and starts to engage the commandships. another chimera warps in as more piltos show up to attack the freighter.
The carriers try to remote rep the freighter while attacking the commandships with fighters. the commands keep warping away and dragging fighters with them. finally the freighter goes down as the carrier pilots mutters "how much?" in local.
Next they start on the chimera. i had locked him to see damage and he starts to use sentry drones on me, criminally flagging himself (its not his day). A cyno is popped brining 2 dreads and a carrier to the gate. the second chimera warped to the station leaving only one. I quickly bought a condor from the station in system and warped back to the gate and engaged the chimera who was now at 20% shields.
"how much?" was said again. i told him i would stop shooting for 800M but aparently he doesnt have that much isk. i open a convo and he agrees to pay me 200M now and 200M when i stop shooting. deal! he pays me 200M isk and i stop, the commandship gang with dreads who i have nothing to do with continue to mine his hull. he finally goes pop as i jump out 200M richer.
pls dont shoot my shuttle next time

Something that shouldn't be forgotten is that he opened fire on you for no good reason. He tried to pirate your shuttle so you came back in a better ship and ransomed the "pirate". I think the ransom was fair.

carriers are not a solo pwn mobile imho, they are very vulnerable to EW. moros are great
