Recent connectivity issues caused by one of our ISPs has impacted the QA testing of the network improvements and reduce lag added to the patch code yesterday. As a result, deployment of the Revelations 1.4.3 patch has been delayed and will begin at 1100 GMT on Thursday 24 May extending through 1400 GMT. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay.
Patch Notes are available for review.
Please note: Training a long learning duration skill ending after the scheduled return to service is recommended.

... uh ... what about this little quote?
"...impacted the QA testing of the network improvements and reduce lag added to the patch code yesterday."
I don't see any mention of any network improvements or lag changes in the patch notes...
There's a lot about that EVE Voice (tried it... didn't like it...), mention of overview fixes (joy if it works), and fixes to exploits...
Where are the notes on network enhancements? Added "yesterday"... Sorry Mr. Wrangler, but you may want to actually TALK to the Dev Team BEFORE posting something that completely contradicts what has already been posted... There have been modifications to the patch and yet there are no modifications to the patch notes....
I realize you don't want to say anything about what was changed. That way if it fails miserably, you can deny anything was done with it in the first place and blame some random "scale" issue that wasn't able to be tested until it hit TQ...
Good luck... |

Due to the testing problems we have cut some stuff out of the patch, and updated the patch notes.
So, what is left you say? This: A number of recently discovered and announced exploits will be resolved.
The good news is that we will most likely go ahead and patch tomorrow, Thursday.

Eve is a great game and it's really Cool that CCP keeps us updated with patch notes and downtime Schedules. Thanks CCP!!!
I have played to many games where they say they are working on a patch then Never release it. Be thankful that CCP does patch as they could just say thanks for the money and leave the game as it is.

I don't consider challenging CCP to "Say what they Do, and Do what they Say" to be flaming them... It's one thing to claim to communicate and quite another to communicate effectively (and accurately).
This patch is a specific example of ineffective communication and quite possibly a broken patching system in general. A patch should not have been scheduled unless it had been finalized in testing. Once the patch is scheduled, this means it has been tested and approved for rollout... It does NOT mean it's almost ready, but there are a dozen or so other changes that we need to impliment that haven't even been tested yet (we will let TQ test them after rollout)...
I've been a developer in the past, so I DO mean to be harsh when it comes to programming effectively and efficiently (and honestly). I won't lie, and be gentle in my opinion of poor development behaviors...
CCP needs to stand up and face things like men (and women) and not the drunken sots they pretent (I hope) to be on EVE TV... |

The issue being is they have announced a patch claiming multiple fixes and updates, but almost nothing in the patch notes. I was commenting on WHEN were the patch notes to be updated with what was actually in the patch, and got a reply that the notes were accurate?

So yet another delay in patching will this patch be bug Free, I look at all these patches is for a messy game what should be done in my humble opinion is the servers should be cleaned and Defragged thoroughly then ya'll shouls put us in a clean install with the new patch, then there wouldn't be so many after patches after a big new patch. But again this is just a humble opinion of a Old EvE player, Madame Kaliear: Of the Soon to be Kaliear's Assault Ships Corporation. |

Sadly i can confirm that indeed they have been having backbone issues in a node out of london. I wont list it but connnecting from the usa i have excellent throughput to that particular node which drops me every few minutes to 20 minutes. It happens the worse during peak hours (afternoon evening from usa ) due to heavier load. I am glad to see you addressing this issue, because it is not much fun to login get setup and crash. log in setup crash for hours on end or simply dont play game at all peace guys

I wonder, will you all be this hostile towards the devs when you want them to do something, to add something or remove a bug? Grow up and those of you who claim to have been devs should understand that patches DO get delayed and that communicating effectively with hundreds/thousands of people is always going to be hard. The fact that CCP are attempting communication puts them above most software developers.

You are right... I shouldn't say the Dev's suck (I don't think I actually did...). Being a developer isn't easy, and yes, I was also a dev in a past life... What sucks is CCPs current process of development... Before the WW merger and before the huge explosion in company size, this sort of shoddy developemnt would not have taken place.
This is not a flame about bad devs... this is a challenge callout to CCP to fix their developement procedures. I'm tired of losing nearly a week of activity before, during, and after every patch because they are not following good patching practices!
I pay good money for this game! I'm not interested in paying to be CCPs beta tester every time they make a modification to the game! I love this game. I've paid for a year on two accounts, but I bet I've lost nearly a month's time due to crappy patching and "Hardware issues" in the past 6 months!
Look at what they posted on this particular patch day: "You may have experienced lag or other problems on Tranquility today. This is caused by hardware problems, resulting in node deaths. We're working hard to resolve this." http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1459&tid=1
Bottom line is this...
CCP should NEVER post a patch until it is FINISHED in testing! Once a patch IS finalized and marked for deployment, there should be NO FURTHER MODIFICATIONS! It's those "last minute" rewrites that screw things up...
I wonder if it would be possible for CCP to adopt the Guild Wars update model? Micro patching might make things faster and easier to update... If they find they screwed up, they could reverse things easier by simply reposting the changed files and the clients would grab them on the next startup.... Maybe this is covered in another thread...
I'm done now... see everyone next patch! :) |

The lag is NOTICABLY better :) I am on ADSL in London UK so prolly I had minimal latency to start with to the cluster. But, now, all actions in eve are noticably less latency. I'll have to confirm this - but initial impressions are an impressive change here :)

Funny thread, i advise the majority of you (particularly the above posters) to LEARN TO TELL THE ******* TIME
Clarification for people who need it spelled out for them: Forum post time stamp of 13:22 means its 13:22 GMT. Therefore eve time is probably, oh i dunno... say 13:22? GMT +1 would be 14:22 not 3pm. Sig->
