Recent connectivity issues caused by one of our ISPs has impacted the QA testing of the network improvements and reduce lag added to the patch code yesterday. As a result, deployment of the Revelations 1.4.3 patch has been delayed and will begin at 1100 GMT on Thursday 24 May extending through 1400 GMT. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay.
Patch Notes are available for review.
Please note: Training a long learning duration skill ending after the scheduled return to service is recommended.

Interesting... I guess the best way to say it is that there's going to be an extended Towntime for patch deployment soonÖ. --- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

It is being delayed because circumstances beyond our control has delayed testing, not to add things to the patch, hence no changes to the patch notes.

Would there be any chance to use these delays to fix regressions like remembering camera zoom between session changes or remembering the size of info windows? |

... uh ... what about this little quote?
"...impacted the QA testing of the network improvements and reduce lag added to the patch code yesterday."
I don't see any mention of any network improvements or lag changes in the patch notes...
There's a lot about that EVE Voice (tried it... didn't like it...), mention of overview fixes (joy if it works), and fixes to exploits...
Where are the notes on network enhancements? Added "yesterday"... Sorry Mr. Wrangler, but you may want to actually TALK to the Dev Team BEFORE posting something that completely contradicts what has already been posted... There have been modifications to the patch and yet there are no modifications to the patch notes....
I realize you don't want to say anything about what was changed. That way if it fails miserably, you can deny anything was done with it in the first place and blame some random "scale" issue that wasn't able to be tested until it hit TQ...
Good luck... |

Due to the testing problems we have cut some stuff out of the patch, and updated the patch notes.
So, what is left you say? This: A number of recently discovered and announced exploits will be resolved.
The good news is that we will most likely go ahead and patch tomorrow, Thursday.

Fully tested and bug free code (while a nice goal) has been shown to not be required in a good bisness model Link.
Getting things out on a predetermined date (even if the determination of that date is delayed) is...

Yeesh. Last night I switched my skill training because I didn't want to chance the possibility that the server would be down for far longer than planned, resulting in lost training time. Now I find out that I shoulda just let it complete. You guys do know that this is the second time the same patch has been delayed 24 hours, right?

Eve is a great game and it's really Cool that CCP keeps us updated with patch notes and downtime Schedules. Thanks CCP!!!
I have played to many games where they say they are working on a patch then Never release it. Be thankful that CCP does patch as they could just say thanks for the money and leave the game as it is.

I don't consider challenging CCP to "Say what they Do, and Do what they Say" to be flaming them... It's one thing to claim to communicate and quite another to communicate effectively (and accurately).
This patch is a specific example of ineffective communication and quite possibly a broken patching system in general. A patch should not have been scheduled unless it had been finalized in testing. Once the patch is scheduled, this means it has been tested and approved for rollout... It does NOT mean it's almost ready, but there are a dozen or so other changes that we need to impliment that haven't even been tested yet (we will let TQ test them after rollout)...
I've been a developer in the past, so I DO mean to be harsh when it comes to programming effectively and efficiently (and honestly). I won't lie, and be gentle in my opinion of poor development behaviors...
CCP needs to stand up and face things like men (and women) and not the drunken sots they pretent (I hope) to be on EVE TV... |

The issue being is they have announced a patch claiming multiple fixes and updates, but almost nothing in the patch notes. I was commenting on WHEN were the patch notes to be updated with what was actually in the patch, and got a reply that the notes were accurate?
Label it a "Security and Exploit Fix" and don't entice us with patches promising improvements if you aren't going to add anything.... <-----------> Factional Warfare:

<-- was commenting that the "notes" were barely a scribble, with no substance. The only thing of interest appears pulled.

The hostility here is absolutely amazing, its amazing the Devs don't poke their heads in with some form of body armor on. That being said, id like to know the number of exploits that are being fixed. Could we finally see an end to POS bowling? If not, what exploits are you guys aware of and fixing? Throw us a bone.

So yet another delay in patching will this patch be bug Free, I look at all these patches is for a messy game what should be done in my humble opinion is the servers should be cleaned and Defragged thoroughly then ya'll shouls put us in a clean install with the new patch, then there wouldn't be so many after patches after a big new patch. But again this is just a humble opinion of a Old EvE player, Madame Kaliear: Of the Soon to be Kaliear's Assault Ships Corporation. |
