 In light of BOB players being realised into the forums again and the temperature of the boards returning to just below the surface of the sun I'd like to try and change the pace.
I know there are a lot of players on one side or the other of this conflict who have friends on the other side or players who they respect. So i figured id take a moment to Recognise the players i respect and hope others will follow suit:
Tholarim [Dice](BOB)
He is a great guy and a good friend. I flew with him before BOB existed and he was always a player of honor and great skill.
Dakkon [Dice] (BOB)
Great PVPer and always looks after his Corp m8's. good friend.
Dreez [Dice] (BOB)
LOL, never met a guy who could make me laugh harder. coming on at 1am ass drunk and killing 5 bs in his megathron like he was just taking a light jog.
DJtheBaron (FATAL)
Great guy and a total riot. very good PVPer
Enslaver (BOB)
legendary smack talker extraordinaire, i remember him taking an interceptor up to PA space and killing like 50 industrials in one day. This guy is legit and a riot to have in local - respect.
Please don't just limit your responses to players (my list was just to get us started) if you want to send props to a Corp or a whole alliance feel free. NO BACKHANDED COMPLIMENTS you noobs.

The first one that springs to mind is Crean Navar from CE. Top guy even if he get's emo on the forum every now and then  Anyway, he's a very old friend of mine from our NORAD days and I've always held him in the highest regard despite the fact we've been on opposing factions since we left NORAD.
I'll add what might be a surprising one to some of the tinfoil brigade and that's The Mittani from Goons. I've run an extensive spy network myself before and I know his is good so respect for that. When we bump into each other on BE's TS during a DT session we usually have a laugh exchanging comments as well, despite the public perceptions in some areas I always find he has a good perspective on our collective Eve antics.
I'd add a few more of the old CE and G FC's as well but I think most of them are inactive.

I nominate Outbreak cause they always keep their cool and don't really smack even though they pwn hard (theyre not arrogant) and they always fight against the system and make their own rules and kick everythings ass.

i'll second that for outbreak. i pass through curse often and outbreak are the cause of much strife and waiting in SS, but at the end of the day they are great guys with alot of honour. and they kick arse too.

He took me under his wing after I joined Section XIII. I would roll out with the Russians since my corp mates played during EU TZ. Corak and Hassis taught me alot and I will always be grateful. Too bad they looked the other way after I left and joined Shinra.

He may be a **** but he knows his stuff. One time I saved his Vagabond from death but lost mine in the process. He kept yelling HELLO! on TS because he thought we couldn't hear him lol. He gave me ISK so I could buy a new Vaga.

I second that. I fought HUN when they were in two different alliances, and most of the time they were the last corp fighting before their alliance died or left the area. Those guys have balls.

I would like to thank:
Kiazersauze for being a great guy with extraordinary tenacity. He has been a friend since the day I started EVE. Even if its 2 years ago we have been in the same corp, we still talk each time I log on, and have great laughs.
Taz911 for being a great friend that I have known for almost 20 years.
Rift Lance for being another great swede, whom I feel we are always on the same page of things - in EVE and not.
Lodhi for being a swell and funny drunken swede.
NSN for taking me in and being great bunch of laid back guys. Special thank you goes to Lowa, for always being a classy guy.

Outbreak i have always respected as a classy opponent and nice peeps after a good scrap.

I'll leave out my own alliance and corp because that would fill an entire page, theres so many folks who are pretty decent with a chat in local, especially if your drunk and they look past the bs propoganda and are actually decent people. Seems most of the people that I know well ended up on the same side of this war, so it's hard to nominate individuals who I know personally and respect and are red to me :p
Anyways there's Fry Fortune from one of Goons less massive corps (Ultrapolite Societies I believe but I might have got it a bit wrong), who I know to be an awesome guy.
CELES always seemed pretty wicked people in game, when I was in -V- and they came to GW and when I joined CRII and we moved into Fountain.
And while they're not my enemies (mostly), BS.I from CoW and any other ex Dark Synergy (corp) members have my eternal love from taking me in as a noob and turning me into. . . a slightly less noobish noob. Also a lot of other ex -V- people like Pepperami :)
Oh and I should mention MACTEP, there was a time when people would judge the competence/strength of an RA gang on whether he was leading it, and rightly so.

I would say there are a few. Maybe not in the specific BOB conflict. Nebba though has been a great guy from all my conversations with them. And as LV they were on the spot when one of our carriers was going down, shows true friends when they bring in multible cap ships to try and save one.
Lemofo - always a level headed guy when I talked with him.
Clerence Thomas - One of my first CEO's in the eve world and one of the guys that helped get NUTS started.
And last but not least if I may - my buddies and my pals MY NUTS..... THIS NUTS FOR YOU!

I bascially respect any1 who see eve for what it is, a game, and can play in it a fun way without hurtful smacktalk but are able to take a joke and have a laugh.
Everyone deserves respect if they hold themselves well, ofcourse people can make mistakes, but crappy pvpers dont deserve any less respect than very good ones.

James Baker (where did he go? :( ) For taking me under his "wing" from the start

Yup, Crean Navar definitely gets my respect. I remember patrolling Syndicate with Crean and Betty Splitter back in the day, all three of us in Scorpions. I can't help but look back with rose tinted spectacles when I think of those early days. Having said that, we did deliberately make Crean primary target in every fleet engagement against G, as penance for joining CE instead of BNC.

The old CELTS guys, that took me in when 14 days old in this game, back when they played station ping-pong with F-E (the corporation) in LS-JEP.
The other corps in my employment history also, run by old CELTS, so even if I'm a swede, I'm a CELT at heart. ;)
Special mentions of guys&corps I have met that deserves respect:
Crystoph, N sx, and the rest of the old IAC crew, Priory, the old HUZZAH crew, CVA, Yanks, CoW (oh, I got an alliance in also), and the most evil person that has killed me: HEIKKI.

Plim for being an ubermoron. Any attempt at conversation with Plim turns into a load of nonsense after about 20 seconds, usually while laughing. Put Plim and Lodhi in a room together and the IdiotRays will kill you within 20 seconds.
Kayosoni - Plim showed me a thread darth put up a few days ago which announced CELES's intentions to shoot anyone allied with ATUK in the Great Wildlands, with a screenie posted by Kayo showing 3 CELES getting owned. I remember chatting with Kayo and him posting the screenshot :) Always was a nice guy to talk to.
norman protector for being probably the only pilot in Xelas that actually got CELES, and therefore came to try and blow us up every day:)
welsh for being a giant caldari noob who learned the game and gang leading so fast even i didnt think it was possible.
Shin Ra for letting me stay at his flat last weekend :)

Praetorian Guards- when they were part of RA. No idea whether they still exist or what has become of them, but when Ghost Alliance first started fighting down in Insmother, these were the guys who stood up and fought with us and accepted us.
Heritor- no idea who he's killing now, but there will be plenty of victims wherever he is flying. A one man ganking machine who gave a number of us a massive head start in learning to pvp with his knowledge and hard lessons.

I think you're missing the point, people don't get respect because they play a computer game with others it is respect for how they play and behave in the game. There is a difference.

Respect to some of the folks who have flavoured my two-and-a-half years or so of EVE: Hans Roaming, the first EVE pop star I came across; GoMaz, Nikky and Matty and the rest of the old school Killson crew for being h4rdc0re but also slightly less good than StateCorp ; Light Darkness and Blue Adept, the best FCs I've flown with; c0rn1 for always sounding cool under pressure, even when Euro time becomes Redswarm time; Shmeee Eeee for always finding out peoples names; Red Alliance for all those oh-my-god-they-did-what? moments; General Dynasty for quite possibly going insane during the end days of -V-; GSY for still being there...and the list goes on....

well the corp i respect is dead but the members are still alive.
Fight Club Soap Industries, they helped me start the game when i was 11, now i'm 15, i know more but will always remember when BL took me out npcing in nm- =). Everybody there was a great help to me, lungo, jaffa, spliff, kiruren, DG, powder, mavrick n ickk (forgive me if i forgot u lol) ^^ fun guys
second one, old alliance but still i have respect for them
Force of Evil, crazy bunch of crazys always willing to fights, always blobed, always remember the fight when we were outnumbered going into a gate camp being lead by C4. The scout says "they outnumber us by 30" and C4 goes" ok guys jump jump jump" and we still won. Most respect to all of FOE!!!! |

Respect to alot of people but one of my oldest friends in eve still goes into the history books.

started in the same little corp as me 4 years ago and after a few days we were deep in low sec with our hard earned tristans. Also for his part in NORAD and umlat overthrow then later BNC with his insane Blastermegas (and in those days bs let alone tier 2 bs, was worth as much as dreads)and here was a dude going close range, solo in a ship that took people months to afford..
we can still sit around and talk about how things were better in the old days
and of course respect to all my corp mates in GREYC for sticking by me all these years. and also to all ex-GREYC you have all made an impression on me.

CELES - fought them when I was in CA, FOE and The 5. One of very few entites I've lost against even when outnumbering them.
G - same here, very good fc's that totally destroyed the enemy fleets.
BIG corp - said goodbye to their alliance because they didn't want to be bob pets.

I respect anyone who really tries to kill me. I've ganked a fair number of ships (part of the game) but nothing is as thrilling as being in a fight with those whose sole intent is to send you back to the cloning station. Guns blazing... that I respect.
And ofc the leadership and pilots of BoB... don't really have to explain that one.
