I went to see the fireworks, local was at 1750 and I landed at the station seconds after 00:00:00. Not sure if I missed the display or perhaps there wasn't one at all, but there was certainly a lot of smartbombing going on.

Did anyone actually see a fireworks display?

CCP invites 1800 people to Umokka.

Suicide bombers provide the fireworks.

I was disappointed. It took me a 30 seconds to jump into Umokka, 2 minutes and 30 seconds to warp to Umokka X - Moon 4 - Caldari Navy Testing Facilities and 10 seconds to crash. Being an idiot I tried to a second time. 5 minutes to log in and 20 seconds to crash. Fantastic fireworks but with CCP, what do you expect?

Out of curiosity, how did the prizes and raffle work? Did you have to be listening to NER as I tried but my connection was rejected or something. Only reason I went out there.

i was there, took 8 mins to undock, and 10 more to regain control over lag, then i took some screenshot:

It wasn't a CCP event, the event was arranged by DJ Daggaroth a NER DJ.
The server was soon filled up but a secondary one was linked in both local and NER's public channel as well as on their website here.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the event but I was around just before hand with the system reaching 1400 people. Good job NER team!

I guess the 'prizes' were us, and the raffle was the chance of our GPU's not catching fire ;p lol

I really did not think so many people were going to show up, last year it was advertised and we had 600 people show up and it was a bit laggy but no crashes. this year 1800 people showed up and blew my mind and we crashed the server node which was not what i expected but the fireworks still continued and we had a good time.

There wasn't any, I was there 2hrs before til 10 min after(the 10min after wasn't by choice ;P)
Maybe ccp couldn't undock and start the fireworks ;p

It will probably be best to just watch a uTube vid next year

So next time I should just log off EvE all togetther, or just be in system but no where near the one spot 1800 pilots r at, and just listen to ur radio just for a remote chance of winning a raffle?

You seem really bitter that a PLAYER RUN EVENT WHERE THEY GAVE OUT FREE PRIZES didn't meet your expectations.

Huh? You weren't looking very hard then. I saw 2-3 of the winners there when they were announced; 1 was in his Raven closer to the moon, torpedoing an innocent container that was just minding its own business.

What was there wasn't bad, but it was basically just a line of cans by the promoter, and everyone else just threw theirs around randomly.

What I would have liked to see is a large circle of cans (perhaps 50-75 KMs) in diameter, oriented like a clock-face with its back to the moon, with multiple laser boats in the centre all firing outwards. With torps aimed at a can in the centre; explosions pulsing outwards.

Some more creative use of repair drones and logis would've added to the atmosphere too.

OP couldn't get into a venue on New Years because it was too crowded.

I bet that's never happened before.
